Raven Gates Gottschalk Navigates Anxiety While Trying Something for the First Time at 33 Years Old

Feeling accomplished.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Raven Gates Gottschalk on Season 21 of “The Bachelor” and on Season 4 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where she met her husband, Adam Gottschalk.
The two welcomed their son Gates in January 2022 and their second baby boy, Max, in July 2023.
Raven loves keeping fans updated with her life on social media, and just opened up this week about navigating her anxiety while also trying something new for the first time.
In a Q&A on her Instagram Story, Raven shared how she calms her anxiety and the techniques she uses to help limit the effect it plays on her life.

“I have to continuously push through it. If I didn’t, then I’d never do anything, go anywhere, or change anything,” she said. “I have a few very personal techniques that I use to calm myself. Like having a safe word. Anytime I have a thought that isn’t wanted, I say my safe word. It helps me clear my mind. I also reframe my thoughts A LOT…Lastly, I’ve been really taking care of what I put into my body lately. I think the best you can do is gather as much information about yourself as possible, look for patterns, and seek out information to combat the negative.”
Raven then revealed in a new video online that she just learned how to ski for the very first time at 33 years old.
“I am 33 and never skied before and today, I’m gonna learn how to ski,” she said. “I am so scared and so nervous, but it’s never too late to learn something. And who knows, I may really enjoy it. So wish me luck. Let’s see how I do.”

The Bachelor Nation star then showed clips of her skiing and expressed how nervous she felt before gaining a little bit of confidence from her instructor.
“Okay, my trainer said that I’m doing really good, so I’m feeling very confident this 33-year-old can do anything now,” she stated.
At the end of the video, Raven shared how the whole experience and being able to conquer her fears made her feel.
She said, “All right, I did it. I feel really proud of myself and I feel like I did a really good job. Most importantly, I’m proud of the fact that if my boys want to do this and they feel like it’s hard or they can never get the hang of it. I can say, ‘Mommy did it at 33. So if I can do it, you can do it.’”
We’re so proud of Raven for going outside of her comfort zone and trying something new. We can’t wait to see her continue taking on the slopes!
