Katie Thurston Gets Candid About Her Fertility Treatments Before Chemo and How Fiancé Jeff Has Supported Her

Sending love.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Katie Thurston on Season 25 of “The Bachelor” and she returned to our screens for Season 17 of “The Bachelorette.”
Katie has been keeping fans updated with her life on social media and revealed last month that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She has been keeping followers updated with her journey online and sharing her experience with her new diagnosis, including going through fertility treatments before starting chemotherapy.
Now, Katie has taken to her Instagram to share more about these treatments and how her fiancé Jeff Arcuri has supported her during this time.

She shared a new video, showing Jeff helping her take her fertility medication, and wrote, “Chemo and radiation can be harmful to my reproductive health… I am on day 8/10 of taking daily shots in the stomach while taking medication to monitor my estrogen levels since my #breastcancer is +++. I feel so thankful for @lucky.sekhon who has guided me on this fast track to do what is best for the future of @jarcuri and I.”
Katie also answered some fan questions on her Instagram Story about her fertility treatments, including whether there are any side effects to the medication.
She answered, “I was emotional initially but now I’m full on irritable and tired all the time. My retrieval is this week and I look forward to giving my body a break before cancer treatments start.”
Another fan asked Katie if she plans to hopefully carry a baby one day after treatment or if she will need a surrogate, and she replied that she hopes to carry her own.

She said, “The hope is to be able to carry on my own. And there’s still even a chance I conceive naturally once treatment is done and I’m allowed to start trying. Doing oncofertility will allow us several options when it comes to family planning.”
One person then asked about Jeff and Katie revealed how he’s been supporting her during these treatments.
“He’s been amazing,” she expressed. “I’ll forever be thankful he rescheduled six weeks of shows. This has been the most important time for him to be with me. [I don’t know] how I’d be without him in my life.”
We’re continuing to send love to Katie and Jeff during this time, and we know that her sharing her story will help so many others. We’re wishing them all the best.
