Matt James Runs the Boston Marathon as a Field Correspondent and Sets New World Record

Congrats are in order!
Bachelor Nation star Matt James ran the New York City marathon in November 2024, and now he’s just crossed the finish line at the Boston Marathon for the second time.
Matt is not new to the marathon world, as he’s competed in multiple marathons before, but this time he got to run as a field correspondent for ESPN and WCVB-TV’s broadcast team.
He shared the exciting announcement in a new post online, saying, “Boston Marathon from the runners POV! 🤳🏾🎥 Excited to be part of the @espn / @wcvb5 Boston Marathon broadcast team as a field correspondent.. literally in the field 🏃🏾💨”

Matt then reposted numerous Instagram Stories during the marathon that show him running and stopping along the way to give hugs, offer high fives, and take pictures with fans.
The former Bachelor even stopped by for an interview and a quick selfie with ESPN and WCVB-TV during the race.
Matt ended up running the 26.2 miles in less than four hours, crossing the finish line at 03:36:54 and beating last year’s time of 03:49:38.
The Bachelor Nation star revealed that not only did he beat his time from the year before but he also set a brand-new world record!

Matt posted a video highlighting his run and shared, “I just set the WORLD RECORD during the Boston Marathon for most hugs given while running a marathon 🍀🫂🫶🏾”
In the video, the world record holder expressed why this accomplishment meant so much to him and shared that he plans on coming back to defend his new title next year.
“My sole mission was to see how many people I could make smile throughout the race! And it’s pretty remarkable what you can accomplish when you set aside a personal goal to make other people happy,” he said. “But like all records, this one specifically was definitely meant to be broken. So, I challenge anyone brave enough to take on the task to bring it on! And I’ll be back next year to defend my title in Boston.”
Congrats to Matt and all the other Boston Marathon runners! What an amazing accomplishment, and we are so proud of all your hard work!
