EXCLUSIVE: Jill Chin & Allyshia Gupta Address Drama Between Them on ‘Bachelor Mansion Takeover’
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans saw both Jill Chin and Allyshia Gupta look for love on Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” Since their time on the show, Jill has found love off-screen and Allyshia has been keeping followers updated with her life online.
The two are currently competing on the new design competition show “Bachelor Mansion Takeover” on HGTV. And right off the bat, palpable tension formed between the Bachelor Nation stars.
Now, while at an event for “Bachelor Mansion Takeover,” Jill and Allyshia both separately spoke with BachelorNation.com to exclusively address the drama that has occurred between them on the show.
Jill stated that she doesn’t think the tension stemmed from their time on “Paradise” but perhaps what happened afterward.
She said, “After ‘Paradise,’ we were cool. We were DMing, she was really sweet, I was excited for her to be there. I wanted to leave so she could have a chance to kind of flourish and I knew Sean and was like, ‘That’d be a good match.’ So, no, it didn’t really stem from there. I think it was the aftermath, like what happened with Kat. Obviously, I’m friends with Kat and yeah, there was just some tension. You’ll have to ask her. [Such as] I don’t know, ‘Why do you hate Jill?’ I think I’m a delight! I’m the realm’s delight.”
Allyshia had a very different response to what she feels caused the drama, saying it was due to having different design styles.
“I really don’t know where that stems from,” she shared, “I’m assuming it must be from ‘Paradise.’ We never crossed paths over in ‘Paradise,’ I never had the chance to meet her. I sent her a really nice message after the fact online, so I was surprised. I never got a warm feeling from her, but I was surprised that there was actual beef that we had between each other. But I don’t think that it’s really the drama and the beef that you think between our personalities. It’s really just different design styles. And that’s kind of what happened on the show. We’re very different people, we have different design styles — that’s okay. The world would be boring if everybody was the same. And you just saw what happens when two people have very different ideas. It’s not to say one person’s is right or one’s is better, it’s just different.”
We then inquired if the two had a conversation while filming for HGTV to address the drama, as well as where they stand with each other today.
Jill said, “We were close to getting there but, this is my — personally, I don’t expect everyone to like me. I think that’s normal in life. I think that it’s possible to not like somebody and leave them alone. And that’s the advice I would give to probably anybody… I really have no interest. Yeah, I wish her all the best, God bless you, but I don’t really feel the need to [have a conversation]. I have a lot of respect for her and her designs.”
Allyshia gave her thoughts, stating, “For me, I think it’s totally just about the design stuff on the show. I mean, Jill and I didn’t really have a friendship before this. It’s not like we were hanging out after this show, but we didn’t have that baseline. So, I have nothing against her.”
She continued, sharing that she didn’t realize the extent of the drama until watching the show.
“I thought we had a conversation. Actually, we did have a conversation when we started filming the HGTV show,” Allyshia said, “I came up to her and I was like, ‘Hey, I want to kind of nip it in the bud. Is there beef between us? I feel like there’s something between us.’ And we had a sit-down conversation for like, I feel like it was 30, 40 minutes. And we both said the same thing, like, ‘We both are coming from a place of amicability, and we both are here excited for the show, and we don’t want our past to get in the way of what we’re doing here.’ Especially since we worked on the teams together. And so I thought it was squashed. But then you re-watch it and I think there’s just so much going on while you are filming. Like, I was truly not aware that I had rubbed her as wrong as I did.”
We appreciate hearing from both Jill and Allyshia, and we’re wishing them all the best on “Bachelor Mansion Takeover”!
