Jesse Palmer Reveals He ‘Almost Died’ While Filming Charity Lawson’s Season of ‘The Bachelorette’
Behind-the-scenes.
Bachelor Nation fans know Jesse Palmer as the Season 5 Bachelor and now as our beloved franchise host.
Jesse has been there for numerous Bachelors and Bachelorettes over the years and recently shared an interesting tidbit about his time filming Charity Lawson’s season of “The Bachelorette.”
As viewers remember, Charity fell in love with Dotun Olubeko and the two got engaged in Fiji on the Season 20 “Bachelorette” finale.
Now, in an online interview, the Bachelor Nation host revealed that he almost died during their time abroad. While chatting with Parade Magazine, he said, “I almost died in Fiji.”
Continuing, Jesse explained that he wanted to spend time on the beach where Charity and Dotun had gone for one of their final dates.
He said, “So, Charity and Dotun had this amazing one on one date on this secluded little island in the middle of the water. And I remember watching them on their date and I thought, ‘Man that would be amazing if in a couple days when no one’s using it, we’re done filming on it, I’d love to go out there and spend a couple hours just on that beach.’”
Jesse shared that everything was going great, until it all unexpectedly changed in an instant.
“I had it organized through the show and through the hotel that owned the beach, and went out there and it was just incredible,” he explained, “And then the storm blew in. And the tide started climbing up onto, like up the beach, to the point where the beach almost got completely covered by the ocean. And you’re just out in the middle of the ocean, there’s nothing there. And I thought to myself, ‘I’m just gonna have to tread water and hope a boat comes by. Or hope the boat comes back to get me and pick me up.’”
The beloved host expressed, “And so that was scary. And then at the very last second, a boat actually came out to check on me because it knew that the weather was really, really bad. But there were, I did have some bad thoughts. There’s some negative thoughts there for a moment where I thought, ‘This is so crazy and ironic if this is how it ends.’”
How scary! We’re so glad Jesse was all right and that he got rescued safe and sound. What a wild story.
