Serena Pitt Has ‘Mixed Feelings’ About Not Having a Prenup with Joe Amabile
Keeping it real.
Bachelor Nation saw fan-favorite couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt fall in love and get engaged on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The two tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by friends and family in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2023. Since then, they have been keeping fans updated with their life on social media and various podcasts.
Recently, on the “Not Married to This” podcast, the couple talked about prenups and Serena expressed having mixed feelings about not getting one with Joe.
While discussing the concept of prenups, she said, “I would say our parents’ generation was like, ‘If you’re getting a prenup, you’re essentially saying I don’t believe that this marriage is gonna last forever.’ Which we now know that 50% of marriages end in divorce, and no one gets married thinking they’re going to get divorced. So, the odds are most people that don’t expect to get divorced, get divorced.”
Joe explained the reason he didn’t want to get a prenup was because he didn’t like the idea of going into their marriage with an “exit strategy.” He also shared that due to Serena being Canadian and the amount of paperwork she had to do already, he didn’t want to add more to the pile.
Serena agreed but also expressed, “Yeah, I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know. I have a lot of mixed feelings about the fact that we don’t have a prenup. Do I think that we’re going to get divorced? No, of course not. I love you so much. You’re my best friend. I hope that we stay together forever. However, you just can’t know what’s going to happen 20, 30, 40 years down the line. So, the reality is, there is always a possibility that we get divorced. Do I see that happening or do I hope it happens? Of course not, but that’s just the reality. That it could happen.”
The Bachelor Nation star then discussed that if she had her own business before getting married, she is “100% sure” she would’ve advocated for a prenup before tying the knot.
She offered, “Or if I owned a home, I would be like, ‘I wanna make sure in this divorce I get my home back’ kind of thing. Like, I’m coming in with it, that would’ve been really important to me. However, it was interesting because business and personal is really intertwined for us. Even to this day, more so than ever with this podcast now. So… I don’t know. Sometimes, do I think we were dumb to not get a prenup? Maybe a little bit. Do I think that it was something we should’ve looked into more? Maybe a little bit. However, am I, like, quaking that we don’t have one? No. I think it’s gonna be fine.”
We always enjoy keeping up with Joe and Serena and hearing their opinion on various subjects. We’ve loved being able to watch their love story unfold over the years!
