Rachel Recchia Addresses Harsh Criticism About Her Appearance: ‘Things Have Gotten Really, Really Bad’
Sending love.
Bachelor Nation fans have gotten to know and love Rachel Recchia on “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” and “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Rachel has been keeping fans updated with her life on social media and went on another dating show called “Perfect Match.”
The former Bachelorette has previously answered fan questions about her recent body changes. But now, Rachel is getting candid and addressing the harsh criticisms she’s received online.
On her Instagram Story, Rachel shared, “Normally I really am okay with a lot of the things that people say about me online, but recently I feel like things have gotten really, really bad.”
She continued, “Whenever I post, a majority of the comments are: I don’t look like myself and I don’t look good and I look sick and I was so much more beautiful back then. I understand that I look different from the first time everyone had seen me on the show. I have been very open and transparent with the filler and botox that I have. I would do anything to be 25 and look that way again. Another thing I really wanted to touch on, the weight fluctuation that I’ve had throughout the years.”
Rachel explained that she had gotten very sick before filming “Perfect Match” and needed a PICC line in her arm, which led her to lose weight.
“Because of that, I ended up getting to the smallest weight I’ve ever been,” she said. “Right after I got that PICC line out of my arm, I went to film the show. I went down and I lost even more weight. When you go and you’re on a show and the main thing is people telling me how big I was when I was the Bachelorette, and then you see yourself at a different weight, it’s really hard to let yourself gain weight after that. And I definitely struggled with my body image since, but it’s something I’m working on.”
Rachel started to get emotional as she addressed the criticisms she’s received online and shared an important reminder.
“All this to say that I see what you’re seeing,” she stated. “How my face has slimmed down, how I look different, I see it. I think there’s so much going on right now in the reality tv space with women and coming after women and coming after how they look and coming after what they’re doing. I know that I’m putting myself in this position but it’s just been something that I’ve been struggling with. And I wish that I had some sort of an ending to this but, put a little bit more kindness into the world and on to the internet.”
We are sending all our love to Rachel and we appreciate her vulnerability. We know her sharing her experience will help so many others. We love her reminder to spread kindness and think twice before saying something negative about someone.
