‘The Bachelorette’s’ Johnnie Reveals His Biggest Fear Going Onto the Show: ‘I Had A Lot’
Opening up.
The men of “The Bachelorette” Season 22 have been joining the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to exclusively discuss how they’re feeling about the show’s current pause and share more of their stories.
Bachelor Nation stars Charity Lawson and Kathy Swarts have been interviewing the guys one by one, and this week, Johnnie joined to reveal his biggest fear about going on the show.
During the interview, he said, “I think my biggest fear, I had a lot of fears. One was, so there’s all the guys going after her, getting heartbroken was definitely top of my [fear] priority. The next one was all the guys being A-holes, which none of them were. I was very surprised when I got there. All the guys were amazing, it was unbelievable. But yeah, the number one was getting heartbroken because I did get broken up with earlier that year and it was tough. I was going through a tough time.”
Johnnie continued, opening up about his dating history and the breakup that led him to go on “The Bachelorette.”
He shared, “I’ve had two serious relationships after [my high school relationship], and the most previous one where I got dumped, I thought that was gonna be it. Like we were gonna get married, but, I mean, it takes a lot for me to get into a relationship and it’s hard for me to open up. And I think that’s always been my problem because I really have a hard time trusting people. Which is probably not a good thing, but I keep myself closed a lot. But I think that breakup was the best thing that’s happened to me. I didn’t know at the time, but now yeah.”
He continued, “I got broken up with on my birthday, February 24th…and then the show was [at the] end of October, so I guess six, seven months [in between]. I really wasn’t dating around at all. It was just like time to focus on me and just be a better version of me, because I was also done playing professional baseball at the time and I was transitioning into I guess the real world, and I was going on job interviews, and I was kind of lost in life. So I was trying to really find myself.”
Johnnie also confessed that he had never dated anyone with children before and was hesitant at first, knowing that Taylor Frankie Paul has multiple kids.
He admitted, “Definitely a little hesitant, but I was open to it because I feel if it’s the right person, then I think it would all work out in the end. So I was open to being possibly a stepfather or a father figure to her children... I’ve never been in a relationship with anybody that had kids.”
