'Bachelorette’s’ Matt Spills Behind-the-Scenes Tea from the Show: ‘It’s Real’
Keeping it real.
As Bachelor Nation fans know, the most recent season of “The Bachelorette” is currently on pause.
While viewers wait to see what happens next, the men from Season 22 have been appearing on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to exclusively discuss how they’re feeling and share more of their stories.
One by one, the contestants have been interviewed, and this week, Matt stopped by to spill some behind-the-scenes tea from the show.
Reflecting on how he’s been feeling during the pause, Matt shared, “The producers and the aftercare team, and everyone has been so great. And we’ve been able to lean into them and talk to them. And for those watching who do not know this, there’s a whole aftercare team that’s been amazing. And so that’s been special…it’s been so great to be a part of all this because it’s not just about Taylor and the guys. It’s about everybody else behind the scenes, and that’s been really great.”
Matt also opened up about his experience with the other men and revealed who he bonded with most.
“I was the oldest guy in the house,” he said. “It was a fun dynamic for me. I mean at times you’re navigating what that means in terms of having that different age gap. What I’ve learned though is that age, this sounds cliche, but it’s only a number really.”
He continued, “I got really close with Conrad. Shane and I had a lot of good conversations. Christopher and I connected because we were both dads. Rod and I had a lot of great conversations, but I wish I could tell you that we’re all sitting here on phone calls all the time, but at the end of the day – I will say this, it’s the first question I get: ‘what were the guys like?’”
“You spend a lot of time together so you get to know these guys very quickly—it’s a very unique experience,” Matt added. “I tell people all the time, even though some of them don’t believe me when I say it, but some of these guys will probably be at my wedding one day. And so I look forward to that, but that’s how I see those guys and I have nothing but respect for them. We were all chosen for a reason, we’re all very different, and you get there you realize, ‘Oh these guys were all here for a reason.’ And that’s what made it amazing overall.”
Matt also teased what’s to come this season and addressed a common question about the authenticity of the show.
He said. “I would just say that, you know I get asked a lot, ‘Is everything that goes on behind-the-scenes real or not?’ And what I would tell people is I was feeling the feels. I mean, it’s real. It’s not scripted, and I just appreciate the opportunity to be a part of something so special and to be sitting here [on ‘Bachelor Happy Hour’] and to just be a part of something that’s bigger than yourself.”
Be sure to listen to the full episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour” to hear more from Matt, and stay tuned for additional conversations with Taylor’s men!
