Alexe Godin Bravely Opens Up About Childhood Sexual Abuse: ‘I Am Still Processing’
Sending love.
Bachelor Nation got to know and love Alexe Godin on Season 29 of “The Bachelor” and Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise” where she found love with Andrew Spencer.
Since her time on the shows, Alexe has been keeping followers updated with her life on social media.
And this week, she decided to bravely open up about a traumatic experience in her childhood.
In a new video, she expressed, “I’ve always said that if I were to have a platform, that I wanted to use it for something that was meaningful. So, this video is going to be part of that. April is sexual assault awareness month, and I always try to be as real and as open with you guys, so I’m going to share something that’s a little bit more personal.”
Alexe continued, sharing the heartbreaking revelation that she experienced sexual assault when she was younger.
“When I was a child, I experienced sexual abuse by someone who was close to me. And it’s something I have processed on my own over the years, and truly, I am still processing,” she said, “It doesn’t define me, but it’s definitely shaped how I see boundaries, trust, and honestly also relationships. And if this is something you’ve been through, just know that you’re not alone.”
Alexe stated that she hopes by telling her story, it may help others who have gone through something similar.
“Everyone does heal differently, and for me, part of that is to be able to share and talk about it openly. If this is something that you’re dealing with, there are resources like Rainn that I’m going to link below. I’ve always wanted to use my platform for something that matters, and if someone can watch this and just feel less alone, I know that sharing was worth it,” she said.
Loved ones filled the comments with their love for Alexe, writing things such as, “I'm so proud of you!! you’re a warrior. I know this video alone will help so many 🫂🫶🏼,” and, “Sending you love 💕 I’m so proud of you.”
