Becca Tilley Gets Candid About Being a Virgin on ‘The Bachelor’: ‘Know Your Worth’
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Becca Tilley on Season 19 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Season 20.
Since her time on the shows, Becca has found love off-screen with fiancée Hayley Kiyoko and the two have been keeping followers updated with their lives online.
As fans may recall, Becca eventually opened up about being a virgin while on “The Bachelor.” And now on a recent podcast, Becca reflected back on that time and got candid about her experience.
During the interview, she explained that she grew up with a religious background.
“I grew up very Christian conservative. It was, like, ‘You don’t chase men, they come to you,’” Becca said. “[We were] nondenominational… My family is not super intense.”
The Bachelor Nation star went on, revealing why she didn’t want to talk about her virginity at first while on the show.
She said, “I didn’t go on [The Bachelor] wanting to talk about my virginity. I was never going to talk about it because I didn’t want it to be my storyline. I was like, ‘This is something that I’ve chosen for myself. I don’t need it to be this thing that people have an opinion on.’”
Becca then shared that it accidentally came out when she was consoling another woman on her season who had opened up about her virginity as well.
“I totally forgot I had a microphone on, I had seven cameras on me, and I go, ‘I’m a virgin too,’” she recalled. “That became my whole storyline, and it was a great thing because I feel like there were people who made the same choice. And I wanted them to see that you could be confident and sure and know your worth and make that decision for yourself and that [would] be okay.”
Becca remembered that the Bachelor, Chris Soules, responded really well when she eventually told him, stating, “He was very respectful and I never once felt like it was a thing.”
We always love hearing from Becca and we appreciate her vulnerability on and off the screen.
