‘Bachelorette’s’ Clayton Discusses His Engagement to Lana Del Rey & Reveals He Asked Out a Former Bachelorette
Spilling the tea.
As Bachelor Nation fans know, the most recent season of “The Bachelorette” is currently on pause.
As viewers wait to see what happens, the men from Season 22 have been appearing on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to exclusively share more of their stories.
It recently came out online that Clayton used to be engaged to Lana Del Rey, and now he’s joined the podcast to tell more about that relationship.
He started off by saying, “Above anything I just respect her as a person, she’s a pretty private person so I really don’t want to go into any crazy details. But at the same time, that was a huge chapter of my life. And it is part of my truth and my story and something that was really impactful in my journey and stuff, too. But yes, it’s been a few years now. We met in passing at church and then kind of reconnected during COVID. And I was traveling back and forth to Nashville at the time between L.A., and we just really connected over what we wanted our futures to look like, old country music, and what our futures looked like to us.”
Clayton continued, “It was really easy to connect and I felt like we had a month of just FaceTiming, and I feel like we really became best friends over that time. So, we had that together and then we were together in person and we were pretty inseparable when that happened. But yeah, I have nothing but amazing things to say about her. We obviously had a working relationship for a while after. After we broke up, we’re still kind of testing the waters, we kind of found ourselves coming back to each other in between people we were dating and things. But my first number one song I ever wrote last year, I wrote for Lana and Quavo from Migos.”
Clayton went on, expanding on his engagement to Lana and expressed that although it accelerated quickly, it felt right.
“I think it takes somebody very special for me to fall head over heels for somebody. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I’m all in because it’s very rare for me to find somebody like that,” he said, “I think covid was a lot like dog years. You know one month in covid time is really like one year in the real world. So, I think it accelerated things a little bit. But at the same time, it just felt so right in all the ways. She’s obviously, she’s married now and I think that when you love somebody and it comes from a pure place, and she is somebody that I loved and love. For her to find her person and for her to be as happy as she is, like she is glowing, nothing could make me happier for her. And it might sting a little bit to be honest with you but if you really love somebody in the purest form, how could you be upset at that?”
The “Bachelorette” cast member then cleared the air about rumors that were circulating online regarding his intentions for going on the show.
He said, “I do want to clear the air real quick with you guys, too…that maybe I went on the show to spite her because she is a fan of reality TV and ‘The Bachelor.’ I truly don’t have any place in my heart for any sort of revenge, any hate. It did not come from a place of wanting to get back at her by any means. This was for me, this was for my journey, so it had nothing to do with that whatsoever.”
Continuing the conversation, Clayton spilled that he had also asked out a former Bachelorette years ago. “I actually asked out another former ‘Bachelorette’ lead not knowing who she was,’ he said, “It’s Kaitlyn [Bristowe].”
