Sam Jeffries Gets Emergency Surgery for Internal Bleeding and Stage 4 Endometriosis
Get well soon.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know Sam Jeffries on Season 26 of “The Bachelor” and Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Sam moved back to Ohio and has been keeping fans updated with her life on social media.
This week, she took to her Instagram Story to reveal that she had to undergo emergency surgery due to “stage 4 endometriosis and other complications.”
“I’ve had endometriosis (stage 2) for years but didn’t realize how bad it had gotten,” she said, opening up about her experience. “After coming off [birth control], I thought what I was feeling was just ‘normal’ period pain… it wasn’t.”
Sam explained that she had gone to the emergency room multiple times over the course of six months but kept having her pain written off as a stomach ulcer due to medication she was taking.
“On Thursday, I had a ruptured endometrioma + internal bleeding in my pelvic and abdominal regions and needed emergency surgery,” she revealed. “It was supposed to take 1 hour, it took 4.”
The Bachelor Nation alum stated that she had part of her right ovary removed and three endometriomas, but there are still cysts on her left side. Those couldn’t safely be removed, so she needs to have another surgery.
“I’ll need another surgery with a robot to fine-tune everything,” she said.
Sam added a friendly reminder to her post for her followers to always advocate for themselves and listen to their bodies.
“I work out, eat healthy, mostly cut out processed foods and still had this going on,” she expressed. “Health isn’t always as simple as doing everything ‘right.’”
Sam also shared that her doctors want her to go on a medication that induces menopause to help regulate symptoms, but she’s planning on speaking with a specialist to explore more holistic options.
How scary! We are sending our love to Sam and we’re so glad she’s doing okay. We’re keeping her in our thoughts and wishing her a speedy recovery.
