Clayton Echard Discusses Unfollowing Rachel Recchia After ‘Perfect Match’ and Where They Currently Stand
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Clayton Echard and Rachel Recchia’s love story unfold and come to an end on Season 26 of “The Bachelor.”
Rachel went on to be the Season 19 Bachelorette and appeared on Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Last summer, the exes reunited once again and took another shot at love on Season 3 of Netflix’s “Perfect Match.”
It didn’t work out between the Bachelor Nation stars, and after their time on the show, it was noticed that Clayton had unfollowed Rachel on social media.
Since then, the former Bachelor has refollowed Rachel. But now, he is discussing the reason behind that original decision and where they currently stand.
On the “She's All Bach” podcast, he said, “My opinion was she did not take accountability to the degree that I thought she should take. She was going on podcasts and making me look like a villain, and all I did was explore a previous connection with an ex. Like many of us in life have done. But all of a sudden it’s like I’m the bad guy again, and it’s like, ‘Oh, you know you’re the victim’ and I was upset, so I was like, ‘You know what? I’m tired of this.’”
Clayton continued, revealing that he and Rachel had chatted while on the show and thought they were both on the same page.
“We talked this out, we hashed it out on ‘Perfect Match.’ And we were totally cool with each other,” he explained. “Then she said something on a podcast and I was like, ‘Well, that’s not what you said to me in private.’ So the second that it goes public, you shift your narrative all of a sudden. And I’m back to being the villain. But you and I hashed this out. That agitated me, so I unfollowed her.”
Clayton expressed that he was annoyed because he felt like it was a “50/50” decision and he didn’t “trick” Rachel into rematching with him. However, they both chatted about it later and Clayton stated they’re good now.
“She reached out and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll talk.’ So I hopped on a phone call with her,” he revealed. “She explained her scenario and I was like, ‘Okay, cool, we’re good. All right, I’ll follow you back.’ She was like, ‘You don’t have to follow me,’ and I was like, ‘No, no, I’m not mad at you. But I was annoyed.’”
We’re glad Clayton and Rachel were able to work things out and move forward. We’re curious to see where their journeys lead next.
