Jenn Tran Discusses AAPI Month and Why She Celebrates: ‘A Good Reminder’
Happy AAPI month!
Bachelor Nation fans first met Jenn Tran on Season 28 of “The Bachelor” and then on Season 21 of “The Bachelorette,” where she was the first Asian American Bachelorette.
May is AAPI Heritage Month, and Jenn loves to share her experience growing up as an Asian American while expressing pride for the entire AAPI community online. This week, the Bachelor Nation star posted a video on social media, discussing more about AAPI month and why she celebrates.
She first started by emphasizing the importance of this month and why it’s a big deal.
“It is a big deal! We have AAPI month for a reason,” she said. “It’s so we can actually use this moment to celebrate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. It’s about taking this time to really learn about people who are different from you. Even me, I’m still learning about my own history. And it’s about celebrating AAPIs this month. Any chance for recognition for my people or learning about other cultures or celebrating other cultures. Like, it’s not just like a, ‘Hey, you exist,’ it’s a, ‘Look at everything you’ve been through.’”
Jenn revealed she’ll be taking this month to share more about her family’s story and highlight various AAPI skin care and makeup brands to support those businesses. The Bachelor Nation star also confessed that growing up, she didn’t fully understand all the hardships Asian Americans have had to overcome.
“The second that you start recognizing all the hardships that Asian Americans have had to overcome and are still overcoming, let’s be honest, a lot of my childhood life and college life was kind of ignoring that part but not really learning about it. Not really understanding how much resilience we all have and how many inequalities we’ve had to deal with. And the second that you just recognize that that existed and still exists in many ways, it is when we start to make it a better place for all of us,” she expressed.
Jenn detailed how being a part of the AAPI community has shaped her, and gave a great reminder to celebrate other cultures.
“Being Asian American has shaped so much of who I am!! From the values I was raised with to the way I move through the world, create, connect, and care for others,” she shared, “This month is such a good reminder to celebrate the diversity, culture, stories, and creativity within the AAPI community ✨”
No matter where Jenn goes, she always brings heart, depth, and fearless authenticity to every step — we are so proud of her!
We love seeing her thrive and we’re celebrating her this AAPI Heritage Month and every day.
