Michelle Young Shares a Glimpse Into Her Dysautonomia Treatments: ‘Surviving’
Opening up.
Former Bachelorette Michelle Young found love off-screen with husband Jack Leius, and in 2025 the two officially tied the knot in a gorgeous Minnesota wedding ceremony.
Last year, the newlywed couple left for their honeymoon but had to cut their trip short because of health issues. Michelle discovered it was due to severe exposure to mold and mycotoxin illness, and later, she revealed that she was officially diagnosed with dysautonomia or, more specifically, POTS.
The former Bachelorette has been keeping fans updated with her life online and the struggles of living with a chronic illness. And this week, she got candid while giving a glimpse into her dysautonomia treatments.
Over clips of her doctor’s appointment, Michelle revealed, “Although I was diagnosed with dysautonomia 6 months ago, I can track symptoms starting to build slowly about five years ago. Which then became debilitating about a year and a half ago.”
Michelle showed herself going through a variety of chiropractic exercises and went on to explain what she’s learned about “dysautonomia.” She shared it’s an umbrella term for a range of disorders where there’s a “malfunction” in the autonomic nervous system, or “things in your body that run on autopilot.”
Michelle confessed that when she first started going to her nervous system specialist, POTS had taken over her life and she wasn’t able to get out of bed or work — dealing with panic attacks at an “all-time high.” She also explained that test results revealed her body was stuck in fight-or-flight mode and her “Total Power Spectrum” (how much energy her body was putting out) was recorded at 637.
“6,000 is the average number of someone who is healthy. 0 means you’re not alive, so we had a lot of work to do,” Michelle stated. “We still have a lot of work to do and I still have a lot of POTS symptoms that are present. But we have come a long way.”
Michelle ended her post on an optimistic note and expressed, “Working on turning surviving back to thriving💪🏾🫶🏾I would like to emphasize that I am NOT a doctor. This information has been passed down/learned during the time I’ve worked with Nervous System Specialists as I work to heal my Dysautonomia/POTS ❤️🩹”
We’re so happy to see Michelle healing and feeling better already. We appreciate her vulnerability and we know her sharing her story will help others.
We’re continuing to send our love to Michelle and wishing her all the best as she continues her treatments!
