The Most Iconic ‘Bachelorette’ Dresses of All Time According to Show Stylist Cary Fetman
Gowns like no other!
If you’ve been keeping up with “The Bachelorette” over the years, you’ve probably seen all the stunning looks rocked by our Bachelorettes week after week each season.
And all these outfits are thanks to Bachelor Nation wardrobe stylist and costumer Cary Fetman.
Cary has been styling for the Bachelor Nation franchise since the very beginning. And now, he’s joined the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to spill behind-the-scenes tea and reveal which “Bachelorette” dresses he feels are the most iconic of all time.
Cary started off by teasing that trying to choose his favorite gowns is not an easy task. “That’s like asking me who’s my favorite child,” he said. “Okay, so not rating them, I would say, obviously JoJo’s blue dress was iconic. I mean, that was everywhere.”
Cary continued and listed another dress that he feels didn’t get a lot of attention online at the time but is one of his favorites.
“Emily Maynard’s finale dress,” he revealed. Also sharing a behind-the-scenes story, he remembered, “I have a picture of her, here we are in [Curaçao], we’re at the top of the stairs. They have a house that’s this big for her, and she’s got black socks on up to here because it’s freezing. And she’s lifting her dress because there’s all these stairs she’s gotta walk down. And that’s the photo I captured. And that will be locked in my head forever…
“And then when she let down this dress I was like, ‘Wow!’ I don’t think people made a big deal about it because you know Instagram had just [started] and I was definitely not near being there.”
Cary also revealed that the designer of that dress was new for the franchise.
“It was a brand-new line that I never thought we would be able to get. In the beginning, ‘Bachelor’ was, people were willing to kind of work with us. But I mean in the beginning, they were very much into doing trades,” he shared.
“And so we had to shop out of one store and one store only. Until finally after a couple of seasons, I started showing them if you just let me do some stuff, it won’t cost a lot, but I can reach out to people. I think we’ve made enough of an impact now where people will give me things.”
The Bachelor Nation stylist confessed he was shocked, and is still shocked, by who is willing to give him items. And revealed that Emily’s dress was a first for the designer as well. “This man had never given a dress to anybody for TV,” he recalled. “Oh, my gosh, just unbelievable. The colors, and I don’t think even the camera did it justice. I think you just had to see it in person.”
