Amanda Stanton Details Struggles of Family Court System to Get Full Custody of Her Kids
Sending love.
Amanda Stanton first appeared on Season 20 of “The Bachelor” and then joined Seasons 3 and 4 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Amanda has shared her life with her million-plus followers on social media. She’s gotten candid about everything from her relationships to her health to single parenting and everything in between.
And if you watched Amanda on Bachelor Nation shows, you know that prior to meeting her husband Michael Fogel in 2021, she was a single mom to two daughters, Kinsley and Charlie.
Before their divorce, Amanda had a three-year marriage with her ex-husband, the father of her two daughters. The Bachelor Nation star doesn’t share much about her daughters’ dad, but has opened up previously about not having a good relationship with him, hoping it could change one day.
Now, Amanda is getting candid and detailing the struggles of going through the family court system to get full custody of her kids.
While answering fan questions online, someone asked how she got full custody, and Amanda replied openly, “I get asked this all the time. And I always wanna answer it so bad because I swear I could just go on a month long rant about the family court system in general and how I think it’s failing so many families, so many kids. Not even just for my own personal experience but from other stories that I hear. Or even from other cases that go before me when I’m sitting in the courtroom.”
Amanda shared the most frustrating part is trying to convince a judge on what she knows is best for her kids but ultimately knowing the decision isn’t up to her.
“It’s just, it’s sad and I think it’s the most frustrating thing in the entire world as a parent who just wants to protect their kids, who knows what’s best for their kids. And it’s not up to you, it’s up to a judge — a stranger — who you have to convince. And I don’t know. I really don’t know how you get full custody,” she expressed.
Amanda also stated that trying to get full custody isn’t a situation someone wants to be in, and it’s not something to want just because someone doesn’t want to split holidays or they have “spiteful” reasons against the other parent. She also revealed it’s very difficult to get full custody and her heart goes out to anyone going through this experience.
“I think people who fight for custody for selfish reasons or to be spiteful at the other parent, I think they just make it even harder for people that are genuinely trying to protect their kids. Because I do think that if you’re in a situation where you’re gonna get full custody, you’re not gonna want that. You're gonna wish that you were not in that situation, if that makes sense,” she expressed. “My heart goes out to anybody that’s going through it. I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. It’s the most frustrating, defeating thing in the entire world. So just know that you’re not alone.”
We’re sending our love and we respect Amanda’s privacy on this matter for both her and her daughters’ sake. We know that her speaking out on this will also help others going through something similar.
