Neil Lane Reveals Inspiration Behind Very First ‘Bachelor’ Engagement Ring 20 Years Later

For years, Bachelor Nation fans have enjoyed romantic proposals by our Bachelors and Bachelorettes on various shows within the franchise.
And no “Bachelor” proposal is complete without a stunning Neil Lane engagement ring. Neil Lane and his couture diamonds have become synonymous with Bachelor Nation love stories.
Now, he’s revealing the inspiration behind his very first “Bachelor” ring 20 years later.
Showing a closeup of the engagement ring, Neil said, “My first Bachelor ring. Till this day, it’s almost 20 years later, I’ve never revealed where the inspiration came from. I’ve been known for making rings for decades.”
The famous ring designer shared that he made the ring for former Bachelorette Jillian Harris and he was inspired to create a historical design based on another ring from his collection.
“When I first did ‘The Bachelor’ and I designed a ring for Jillian Harris, I wanted to bring something really interesting. Something historical,” he said. “It was based on a ring that I had in my collection that belonged to Jean Harlow, the famous movie star from the 1920s and '30s.”
Giving a closer look into the details, Neil described he wanted to bring “Hollywood history into a modern proposal.”
He explained, “It had a beautiful pear shape, it had baguettes on the side and little, tiny details. Here’s a replica because I thought it was such an important thing. Now, almost 20 years later, I’m revealing the origin and the design aesthetic from the ring.”
