Blake Moynes Discusses Personal Sacrifices with His Conservation Work: ‘There’s No Way Out’
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know Blake Moynes on Seasons 16 and 17 of “The Bachelorette,” as well as Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Blake is well known for his love of animals and currently works full time as a wildlife conservationist with his organization SOSA. The Bachelor Nation star loves to keep followers updated on his life and global adventures, often sharing about the important work that he’s been doing.
Now, Blake has joined “Bachelor Happy Hour” to candidly discuss the parts of his work people don’t see online, which include a lot of personal sacrifices.
Sitting down with Rachel Recchia while on a conservation trip in South Africa, Blake revealed, “I’ve sold my house, I’ve taken all my investments that I’ve put into it. I put everything into this, and now it’s forced me to be on the road. There’s no way out other than through it.”
Blake confessed he no longer has close relationships with his best friends and feels left out from major events back home.
He said, “I don’t have the same relationships that I used to have with my best friends. Why I don’t get notified that my best friends are having kids in the next four months. I’m finding out through the grapevine, and it’s almost like ‘out of sight, out of mind’ and I’ve just kind of become that unfortunately through not responding to texts. I don’t have time for anything. You see how I am. I have no time for anything other than this.”
The Bachelor Nation star expressed that part of the reason is due to time zone differences and being on the road or in the field, which causes him to “neglect everyone and everything.” He shared, “I have no money left other than making it happen through these projects. And so I can’t have pitter patter and small talk conversations through text.”
Rachel chimed in that Blake’s friends will get married or have kids and he won’t hear about it. “Some of my best friends have, their kids are three years old now and I’ve never met their kids because the last few years I’ve been so deep in this,” Blake reflected. “And when I get home, maybe I have a week before I’m off to Alaska to wherever I am in the world, and it’s back to back to back to back that you don’t even find the time when you’re home.”
He touched on prioritizing seeing his family before anyone else and also having to do a bunch of backend admin work, which takes up a lot of his time. Rachel added that she’s observed Blake not getting enough sleep or eating due to this, so his mental health is starting to "suffer."
We’re sending all of our love to Blake. Hear the rest of his interview in the full episode below, and stay tuned for Part 2 dropping tomorrow.
