Jess Girod Reveals What She’s Learned About Herself Through Heartbreak: ‘I Would Rather Love & Hurt’
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation got to know and love Jess Girod on Season 27 of “The Bachelor” and Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
In 2024, Jess moved to San Diego, California, and has been keeping fans updated with her life online. The Bachelor Nation star loves to share about her adventures with friends, travels, and dating life updates.
Jess is not shy about sharing her journey to find love online. And in a recent interview with “How I See It Podcast,” she opened up about what she’s learned through heartbreak.
She shared that while it can be painful sometimes, she would rather fall in love and get hurt than never try to love at all.
“I look at it as like yes, a door may close but another one’s gonna open,” she said. “And sitting with the emotion that you’re feeling, there’s so many ways to look at it. But it’s like A) that person might’ve needed the love that you gave them. And it may not have been reciprocated or it might’ve hurt you, but you might’ve changed them in a way that you’ll never know how much. That kind of helps me a little bit. For me, I would rather love and hurt, than not love at all. And I learn something about myself every time.”
Jess continued, revealing that she’s realized the great parts of finding love are coming from herself.
She listed the lessons she’s learned, stating, “Whether it’s what I want or don’t want. How happy I can be. And I also think the happiest that you are with someone and the most in love that you are with someone, like all those things and the excitement you get, it’s all coming from you. It’s all things that you contribute and what you bring to the table.”
The Bachelor Nation star went on and shared the positive reminder she gives herself when going through heartbreak.
“I always look back like, okay if this doesn’t work out with this person, I was so fun to date,” she expressed. “I had so much fun, I was so excited, I was so in love. And I love the idea of love and what I can give. So when I’m going through heartbreak, I just remind myself, it is you. You are missing that version of you and you’ll find it again. Whether it’s with someone else or yourself, it’s just like sit with it. Feel it.”
We are so proud of Jess and always love hearing from her. We think she is incredible, and we know she will find her forever love one day!
