Bachelor Nation fans got to know Blake Moynes on Seasons 16 and 17 of “The Bachelorette,” as well as Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” 

Blake is well known for his love of animals and currently works full time as a wildlife conservationist with his organization SOSA. The Bachelor Nation star loves to keep followers updated on his life and global adventures, often sharing about the important work that he’s been doing.

Blake has been having a candid conversation with Rachel Recchia on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast about the personal sacrifices he’s made for his work. And now, he’s opening up about his most recent relationship and why it ultimately didn’t work out.

He shared that it’s been hard to prioritize a relationship due to his busy schedule and knowing that he can’t fully show up for someone the way that he wants to. 

“It’s been extremely challenging to prioritize anything else,” he said, “And not that I don’t want to, but if I don’t have the money, the time, to show up and I’m stressed. And you see me moving the way I move, I’m not present with you the way I could be. I’m not present with anyone here that I could be. My mind is elsewhere.” 

Blake then touched on his previous relationship a year and a half ago, and Rachel chimed in expressing that the person he dated was amazing. “You said I was an idiot. And totally fair and I think that’s one of the hardest things, is that I also know that,” he admitted. “And that’s what makes it challenging. But the thing also is that we were having honest conversations. She was incredible, got along in every single way, matched me personality-wise, we just hit it off. In a way I didn’t think I was really going to, it was a really one-off scenario.” 

The Bachelor Nation star explained he was on his way to South Africa when he met up with this person for a date in New York. “There were very particular moments where I remember feeling very like, I think this could be, this could work. Like truly work,” he reflected. Blake described this person as being very loving, nurturing, wholesome, and genuine, emphasizing that they got along so well. 

“Those were the things I haven’t had since Katie, since it was two years before then,” he confessed. Then, touching on why it didn’t work out, Blake explained it ultimately came down to timing and living completely different lifestyles. He revealed that she was filming her own shows at the time while he also had his own things going on. 

“I think the unfortunate thing is that I didn’t necessarily foster that, the way I could have in the time, and I think timing was terrible,” he said. “Otherwise, I maybe would’ve managed that a little bit differently. But I think schedules, timing, things I was getting into, and we had a lot of serious conversations about big picture and what that would look like… If I can’t be around the way that you would like me to and it’s gonna be a challenge to meet that [financial goal], I’m not necessarily gonna be the type of lifestyle maybe you would hope and expect and want and maybe deserve.”

“I think that’s why the break on it sucked. And I remember [being] very, it was an emotional breakup because it wasn’t a thing based on personality and us getting along,” he continued. “I think it was the lifestyle and me prioritizing the situation I was in at the time because I don’t really have another choice and I just don’t know if there was a full understanding there. But I think that’s the challenge because I think it was a time-sensitive thing.”
