Hannah Brown Shares Why She Almost Ended Her Engagement to Husband Adam — Read Here
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Hannah Brown as she looked for love on Season 15 of “The Bachelorette.”
Since her time on the show, Hannah ended up finding love off-screen with her husband Adam Woolard in 2021. The couple officially tied the knot last year in a stunning wedding on the French Riviera.
The Bachelor Nation star has been keeping fans updated with their lives online and has previously opened up about her marriage and their plans to eventually start a family.
Now, Hannah is getting candid while chatting on a recent podcast and revealed that she almost ended her engagement to Adam.
During the interview, the former Bachelorette confessed, “I haven’t really talked about that, but I’d alluded to it. Getting engaged was really scary for me. I mean again, I guess. I was so anxious. Before I was like, ‘Yeah, we’re probably gonna get married, but I don’t have a timeline.’ Just kind of being like, whatever! …Theoretically [it was a great idea] and then when it came around, I was so scared.”
Hannah went on, sharing that she and Adam both had things they needed to work on in their relationship and was worried she didn’t really know him.
“I didn’t feel like I knew him fully and that scared me. And I’m like, I’m still a mess, so I would say, like, after we got engaged, we really had a hard season of, like, things are gonna have to change,” she admitted. “Because we’ve both been very avoidant, there were so many things that we just let slide under the rug. We never had a fight. We had never fought and that’s typically, if you’re never having arguments, not a red flag, but something you should explore that. And that was something now we do. We have healthy arguments, but we didn’t know how. It was just, if somebody was upset about something, you went to the other room… and we wouldn’t really address it.”
While reflecting on why she wouldn’t discuss issues with Adam, Hannah admitted that she didn’t want to ruin their relationship because it was so good. However, she was filled with “what if’s” after they got engaged.
“I was a mess during my engagement. I will be very honest,” she said. “The anxiety was constant. I couldn’t think of anything else. What if I get into this, what if it all changes, what if this doesn’t happen? Like, there’s all these things we need to work on. What if we never get better? Because we’ve been together for five years at that point, we’re past the honeymoon stage. I see the things he needs to work on, he sees things I need to work on, there’s things in our relationship that are not perfect. And what if — it was just the what if. I could not get it to turn off.”
Hannah continued, “It wasn’t until, swear, I got married that it went down. So anybody listening who’s in an engagement and is like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is not the way I thought I was gonna feel, I’m freaking out. I wanna go, I wanna escape.’ I almost did. Like, I almost did that. But once I got married, it doesn’t mean that there’s still things we have to work on, there’s that. But it was that in-between commitment jump thing for me that drove me crazy.”
We always love hearing from Hannah and we appreciate her honesty. We know her vulnerability will help others feel less alone.
