Ashley Iaconetti Teases Personal Connection to Taylor Swift’s Song ‘Mastermind’: ‘This Is My Story’
Mirroring real life?
As Bachelor Nation fans know, Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti Haibon first met on Season 2 of “Bachelor in Paradise” in 2015, and the two got engaged on Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
As fans may recall, the pair famously had a back-and-forth relationship of “will they or won’t they?” until they finally announced they were dating in 2018.
Since then, Ashley and Jared tied the knot in August 2019 and welcomed their sons Dawson and Hayden into their lives.
The couple has also been appearing on “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island,” as Ashley officially became part of the cast this season.
And now, during an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Ashley teased that her story might share a personal connection to Taylor Swift’s song “Mastermind.”
The Bachelor Nation star was asked, “Are you a Swiftie? Because I’m pretty sure ‘Mastermind’ by Taylor Swift was written about you.”
Ashley immediately responded, confirming she feels like the song could be a reflection of her life.
She said, “I feel like ‘Mastermind’ and I do have quite a relationship! I love ‘Mastermind.’ When I first listened to that song, I was like, ‘This is my story. This is so crazy.’”
Some of the lyrics in the song include lines such as, “The first night that you saw me, nothing was gonna stop me, I laid the groundwork and then saw a wide smirk, On your face, you knew the entire time, You knew that I’m a mastermind, And now you’re mine.”
Ashley went on to clarify that although she is not a Swiftie, she is a big Taylor Swift fan and loves the song.
“Sometimes I feel like when you cross the bridge over into Swiftie, like that means you defend her at all costs,” she said. “Sometimes, you know, sometimes I’m like, ‘I don’t like that sundress,’ you know what I mean? But, like, I am a Taylor Swift fan for sure. And ‘Mastermind’ is brilliant.”
So fun! Is the song written about Ashley’s story? We don’t know, but we do love that there could be a connection!
