Katie Morton Discusses Managing Narcolepsy Symptoms During Pregnancy — More Here
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation got to know and love Katie Morton on Season 23 of “The Bachelor” and Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Katie moved to London in 2022 and soft-launched her relationship with fiancé Nick Garside on social media in 2024.
Last year, the couple shared the exciting news that they are officially engaged, and recently they also announced that they’re expecting their first baby together!
Last week, the Bachelor Nation star revealed that she and Nick are already married as they tied the knot in an intimate city hall ceremony. And the two are currently planning a wedding celebration for next May.
Now, Katie has taken to her Instagram Story to answer some fan questions and opened up about how she’s managing her narcolepsy symptoms during pregnancy.
Over a photo of herself asleep on the couch, Katie shared, “Your girl has been SLEEPY!!!! And the brain fog that I used to get with narcolepsy in my teens has been very present even in second trimester. I have more energy but my brain function feels like a ‘98 computer sometimes.”
Katie discussed having to stop her narcolepsy medicine while being pregnant and her plans for navigating symptoms during postpartum.
“I can’t take my narcolepsy medicine while pregnant and stopped a few months before TTC to get it out of my system,” she revealed. “I’m really glad I was so well managed before in terms of my lifestyle and knowing my body and its signs because it hasn’t been impossible but it’s been a big shift. And I know postpartum that I’ll need some extra support or at least help with my fears of falling asleep while doing things. I’ll want someone there until I understand my new body and how it’s functioning.”
Katie went on, expressing gratitude for those around her and that she’s been able to understand her body so well.
“I’m lucky that I’ve always been pretty in tune with my body but this will be so different,” she reflected. “I’m also really lucky to have my support system and a flexible way of life. I already thought women should have first trimester maternity leave, but this really sealed the deal.”
We always love hearing from Katie and we’re sending our love during this time. We appreciate her vulnerability and we’re so excited for her and Nick on their growing family. We can’t wait to meet their little one!
