Amanda Stanton Gets Candid About the ‘Pressure’ of Raising Kids in the Public Eye
Keeping it real.
Amanda Stanton first appeared on Season 20 of “The Bachelor” and then joined Seasons 3 and 4 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Amanda has shared her life with her million-plus followers on social media. She’s gotten candid about everything from her relationships to her health to single parenting and everything in between.
And if you watched Amanda on Bachelor Nation shows, you know that prior to meeting her husband Michael Fogel in 2021, she was a single mom to two daughters, Kinsley and Charlie. And in 2024, she and Michael welcomed their first child together — a baby girl named Rosie.
This week, Amanda took to her Instagram Story to answer some fan questions and opened up about being a parent as well as the “pressure” she feels around raising her kids.
Reflecting on her parenting style, she shared, “I think being a young single mom I’ve felt a lot more pressure to have well behaved kids and be ‘on top of it’ as a mom because there is such a stereotype around young single moms! And especially being *somewhat* in the public eye, it’s something I’ve always been hyper aware of.”
Amanda continued and got candid about some of the insecurities she’s faced as a mom.
“I recognize I’ve probably been a little too harsh / strict on my kids sometimes due to my own insecurities of feeling like other parents were looking to seek out mine or my kids flaws, behavior and imperfections,” she said. “Not overcompensating for that is definitely something I’ve had to work on over the years!”
The Bachelor Nation star then revealed that she doesn’t have “set rules for discipline” with her kids. She instead talks to them in a way that will help them understand why something wasn’t right. She also shared stories of when she made her kids write letters of apology to people and take action to fix mistakes while holding themselves accountable.
She said, “If I feel like they’ve learned their lesson and/or problem is solved, there’s no punishment. My girls and I have such a close relationship and they really don’t like to disappoint me and even though they don’t love all my rules, they know I just want to protect them and I feel really grateful for that!”
We always love hearing from Amanda and we think she is an incredible mom. We also appreciate her honesty!
