Former Bachelor Nick Viall married Natalie Joy in 2024 after 2 1/2 years of dating, and the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter River Rose.

Throughout their journey to conceive children, Natalie has been candid about her fertility challenges online.

Earlier this year, the two shared the incredible news that they’re growing their family with twin girls. And this month, they officially welcomed their twin daughters, Dove and Iris, into the world!

Now, the two are telling the “crazy” birth story of their twin daughters for the very first time on their podcast, “The Viall Files.” 

Reflecting back on how everything occurred, Natalie said, “Everything truly worked out the way it was meant to work out.” Natalie noted she had a lot of anxiety about how the twins’ births were going to go and she was scared to do a C-section, but she would do whatever she needed to ensure they were delivered safely. 

Nick and Natalie revealed they went to the hospital at 4 a.m., but the babies weren’t born until late that evening, noting that they almost had two separate birthdays. 

“Baby A I feel like comes out pretty normal. Like that was just a few pushes,” Natalie shared. “This whole time we had thought, we based their names based on their ultrasounds. So baby A our entire pregnancy was Dove and baby B was Iris.” 

Continuing, she revealed, “They switched… so A that’s actually gonna come out is now gonna be Iris. And B who’s flipped up is gonna be Dove.” 

Natalie shared Iris had a short umbilical cord, so she wasn’t able to hold her right after she was born. Then very shortly after, they prepared for Dove’s delivery. 

The couple explained that Dove was breech, so the doctor had to reach up and grab her legs to pull her out. 

“She’s grabbing Dove’s feet and when I tell you, I’m laying there and I’m experiencing the most intense amount of tugging and rocking and pulling. I’m not in any pain,” Natalie said. 

“I can literally see she grabs Dove’s foot and Dove pulls her foot out of her hand and then kicks me. And this happens several times… As she’s about to come out, she sticks her arm up.” 

Apparently, the doctor had to reach up to put Dove’s arm down, but she wiggled free. “She’s just fighting her in my womb,” Natalie laughed. 

Nick also chimed in, “I look up and I see her pulling on her legs. It’s kind of freaky and scary… It’s not just like this gentle thing. She is pulling her out. It was crazy.” 

Natalie revealed that Dove was blue and not moving when she was finally delivered, which the doctor reassured was normal for breech babies. And shortly after warming her up, she started crying, so everything was “okay.”
