Joe Amabile Is Training for N.Y. Marathon Amid Brain Tumor Diagnosis, Plus Brain Surgery Update

Bachelor Nation saw fan-favorite couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt fall in love and get engaged on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The two tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by friends and family in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2023.
Since then, the couple has been keeping fans updated with their lives on social media.
Earlier this month, Joe shared the heartbreaking news online that doctors discovered he has an “early stage brain tumor” and will need brain surgery.
Now, Joe has taken to social media to share an update on his health and revealed that he’s currently training for the New York City marathon.
On his Instagram Story, the Bachelor Nation star stated that he decided he was done running marathons before finding out his health news.
In a video, he said, “All right, I just got done with a run. Before all this brain stuff, I told myself I was probably done running marathons. But now, I want that as a goal for myself. I need that.”
Joe has run multiple marathons already, specifically the New York City marathon, and hopes to run it again this year.
“I’m putting it out there in the universe that I’m going to be able to run the New York marathon this year,” he shared. Joe also posted a photo of his marathon registration and said, “🤞we’ll see.”
In addition to training, Joe is preparing to have brain surgery and gave an update in a new post online.
He revealed, “Today was supposed to be my original, it was my original surgery date. But when I switched hospitals it got pushed back a week. The waiting game has been, it’s been tough. It’s been tricky because on one hand I’m like alright let’s get this over. On the other hand, I’m telling myself, why are you rushing to have brain surgery?
“So yeah, little update. Surgery is next week,” he continued. “I’m someone who likes to just rip the band-aid off, so the waiting game has been tough, to say the least. A lot of ups and downs, but I’m almost there.”
