Fans got to know former Bachelorettes Charity Lawson and Rachel Recchia as they looked for love on various Bachelor Nation shows over the years.

The two now co-host the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast together, and this week, they welcomed fellow reality TV star AD Smith to the podcast. 

AD first appeared on television when she looked for love on Season 6 of “Love Is Blind.” Later, she appeared on Netflix’s “Perfect Match,” where she met now-husband Ollie Sutherland.

However, the reality star has now revealed on the podcast that she first turned down “Perfect Match” three times due to her “harsh” experience on “Love Is Blind.”

Opening up on her life after “LIB,” AD said, “I needed a lot of processing because you know, with filming, it happened a year before it comes out. So in that time, I did a lot of self-development and healing and therapy and I was okay. The internet was not okay.”

Continuing, AD shared that she had a very negative experience online after the show, which led her to say no to other opportunities.

“The internet was a very, very harsh, mean place,” she reflected. “The internet made me want to bury myself in some hole somewhere. So when ‘Perfect Match,’ when people reached out to me for ‘Perfect Match,’ I was like absolutely not, no way. No way am I gonna put myself through that. And I turned down ‘Perfect Match’ I think three times.”

She eventually said yes to going on the dating show after some convincing from her friend. 

“One of my really good friends here in L.A., I told him that I turned it down and he was like, ‘No, you didn’t,’” AD recalled. “He said, ‘Give me your phone.’ And he took my phone, and he opened the email and he said, ‘Hey, actually can we set up a time to talk? I’d love to reconsider.’ Sends it. I get a call the next morning like, ‘Hey, AD would love to have you if this is what you want to do.’”

The reality TV star also compared the two dating shows and the main difference in her experience. 

She said, “I think ‘Love Is Blind,’ there’s so much pressure to get married and find your person and get engaged. Where it’s like ‘Perfect Match’ is like, find your person, have fun doing it, and see where it goes. Whereas ‘Love Is Blind’ is like… so much pressure.”
