Bachelor Nation fans first met Alicia Holloway as she looked for love on Season 25 of “The Bachelor.”

After her time on the show, Alicia found love with Juan Matallana and the two hard-launched their relationship in 2021. 

Since then, Alicia has been keeping fans updated with her life, her ballet career, and her relationship. And last year, the two announced their engagement during a trip to Aruba.

Last week, the Bachelor Nation star revealed on her Instagram Story that she and Juan are officially no longer together.

And now, she’s opening up about ending her engagement after being in a relationship for over six years.

In a video, she shared, “I was engaged. I ended my engagement, and I quite literally never in a million years thought that I would be making this video… I think when you have a decent-sized following, especially for someone like me who shares so many intimate parts of my life with you guys, it is extremely hard to keep certain things private.”

Alicia stated that she had been putting off sharing the news for months but felt like now was the right time. 

“It’s been really hard. It’s a time in your life that’s supposed to be so wonderful and full of joy and happiness. It just isn’t,” she expressed tearfully. “[Waiting to share has] allowed me to take the past few months and try to begin the process of healing and figuring out what my life looks like now. When you’re with somebody for a long time, like myself who was with my ex for six and a half years, most of the time you picture your entire life with that person. The family, the wedding, the babies, etc. And so just to have that taken away from you can be really, really difficult.”

The Bachelor Nation star shared that she’s been really leaning into her faith during this time, even though it’s been difficult.

She also gave a note of encouragement to others going through a similar experience and emphasized that they are not alone in their journey. 

“Ending my engagement was something that I never thought I would have to do. It honestly was the hardest decision of my life,” she reflected. “I am a believer that everything does happen for a reason, even though I might not be able to see what that reason is right now… sending love to anyone going through something similar💔”
