Demi Burnett Thanks Hospital Workers for Helping with Her Sobriety Journey 5 Years Ago
Sharing thanks.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know Demi Burnett on Season 23 of “The Bachelor,” and again on Seasons 6 and 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Demi has been keeping fans updated with her life online and previously opened up about her sobriety journey.
Demi shared that she’s been alcohol-free since 2021 but had a difficult time going through recovery. She revealed her withdrawals were so bad, she experienced seizures and was in the hospital for three days.
Demi has previously opened up about this experience and revealed that fellow Bachelor Nation star Natasha Parker was by her side to help her through recovery.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star has taken to social media to share that she recently celebrated five years of sobriety. And to celebrate, decided to thank the hospital workers who helped her.
In a new video, she said, “Five years ago, I was extremely addicted and dependent on alcohol. I used alcohol the most to help me feel normal in social situations. I loved the way that it quieted down a part of my brain that just made me scared all the time. But eventually it did start to make me very sick and when I tried to stop drinking, I did it cold turkey and I had seizures and I was hospitalized for three days.”
Demi went on and revealed that she bought a bunch of snacks and flowers as a way to show her gratitude to those who helped her during that time.
“Well, that was officially five years ago, so I’m gonna go up to the hospital where I was at and I’m going to give them a little treat for taking care of me and saving my life that day. I just really want them to know that their efforts were not wasted,” she added.
Demi also shared in her caption, “5 YEARS OFF THE HOOCH 🙌 **friendly reminder that quitting heavy drinking cold turkey can be deadly** a special shout out to my angel that day, @natashaparker ❤️ she helped me when i was going through the absolute worst part of my journey. and thank you @cecilyhford for helping me accomplish the only thing i wanted to do for my special day 🥹❤️”
We are so proud of Demi and we’re continuing to support her today and every day. Congrats on five years!
