Opening up.

As Bachelor Nation fans know, Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti Haibon first met on Season 2 of “Bachelor in Paradise” in 2015.

The two later got engaged on Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise” and tied the knot in August 2019. Since then, they’ve welcomed son Dawson in 2022 and their second son, Hayden, in 2024.

Ashley has previously opened up about not wanting more kids due to tough pregnancy experiences. And now she’s taken to social media to discuss gender disappointment and why she’s “wonderfully content” being a boy mom. 

Alongside a video of Dawson helping Hayden, Ashley said, “I know gender disappointment is such a sensitive subject. I totally get why. To have a healthy baby is the ultimate blessing regardless of if it’s a boy or girl. But I also know that so many of us women grow up imagining having a daughter to shop, dress up, gossip, and watch romances with.”

The Bachelor Nation star went on explaining that she often receives messages asking, “Are you going to try for a girl?” and stated why she isn’t. 

She admitted, “Interestingly, I actually experienced less gender disappointment when finding out our second child was a boy than with our first. Admittedly, I had a few days of ‘gender disappointment’ when I found out Dawson (our first) was a boy. In my head it meant our second child must be a girl because I must have that mother-daughter bond… After Dawson was born and blossomed into the most tender-hearted, sweet as pie little boy, I never thought about needing a daughter to feel satisfied as a mother.”

Ashley continued and shared that she and Jared don’t want more than two kids and also don’t feel a need to “try for a girl.” 

“We don’t want more than two kids. But after having Dawson, I knew just how glorious it is to have a little boy,” she said. “My niece may or may not get a lot of gifts at Christmas from me because shopping for princess stuff is very fun. However, I don’t feel a void not having a daughter. I never think let’s try for a girl. (In my bones I know a third would be a boy anyway.) I never daydream of what it would be like to have a girl. I am wonderfully content with my boys.” 

Ashley also noted that she wanted to post the sweet video of her boys to show how beautiful the moment was and added, “My boys dance and sing to boy bands, they smother me with love… they fill my mom cup completely and then spill some. ❤️”
