Joe Amabile Reveals He Has ‘Very Low-Grade’ Astrocytoma & Will be on Treatment for Life

Bachelor Nation saw fan-favorite couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt fall in love and get engaged on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The couple tied the knot in 2023 and has been keeping fans updated with their lives on social media since.
Earlier last month, Joe shared the heartbreaking news online that doctors discovered he has an “early-stage brain tumor” and needed brain surgery.
Last week, the Bachelor Nation star revealed that the doctors were able to successfully remove the entire tumor during his surgery.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star has taken to social media to give an update on his recovery and diagnosis.
In a new video, he shared, “I’m back. It’s been a full week since my surgery. Recovery has been really great for the most part. I think I struggled at the beginning with speaking, just like knowing what to say but not being able to say it. And then you know, just pain obviously.”
Joe stated that he is no longer on any painkillers except for a few Tylenol here and there, and has been focusing on rest and recovery.
He also gave an update on his diagnosis, which showed that the brain tumor was malignant.
“I got my prognosis, which was fairly good,” Joe shared. “I do have an astrocytoma, but it’s very low-grade. They did get the whole thing. When it comes to malignant brain tumors, they don’t know what’s left over, so I will be going on treatment.”
Joe went on, explaining, “[Treatment] is just a pill every day for the rest of my life to put the bad cells to sleep. And hopefully they stay asleep. And that’s it, that’s all I can do.”
The Bachelor Nation star also revealed that in addition to his treatment, he will be receiving regular MRIs. He added, “Staying positive, baby.”
