EXCLUSIVE: Susan Noles Confirms Breakup with Boyfriend Frederic: ‘Most Difficult Thing I’ve Ever Done’
Sending love.
Bachelor Nation got to know and love Susan Noles on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelor.”
Since her time on the show, she’s kept fans updated with her life on social media and on the “Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour” podcast that she co-hosts with BFF Kathy Swarts.
Kathy and Susan have famously enjoyed frequent girls trips to St. Martin. And last year, Susan found love with boyfriend Frederic Aster while on the island.
She shared on her and Kathy’s podcast, “I can honestly say he’s the real deal. I have found my person.” And the couple later went ring shopping together.
Now, in a new episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour,” Susan has confirmed that she and Frederic have officially broken up and parted ways.
While chatting with Kathy, Susan shared, “I’m struggling. I love Fred. And what makes this so difficult, I’m at a point where I was really questioning whether loving someone is enough when you know there are fundamental things that may not work long term. For instance, we’re in such different places financially and have different expectations about lifestyle and retirement. And things might not work come long term. And I’m trying to listen to my head as much as I’ve always listened to my heart.”
Kathy asked her friend where she and Frederic stand today, and Susan answered, “I ended it. And it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done.”
“If I’m completely truthful, I saw some things pretty early. I ignored some red flags,” she continued. “I loved all the attention. My problem is when I have chemistry with someone and I’m having fun and I’m feeling loved, I’m very, very good at convincing myself that the other things will all work themselves out. And I also realize that that’s a pattern of mine. Like I said, I ignored red flags.”
Susan explained that she didn’t notice all the red flags right away, but also pushed them aside because she had never felt more loved in a relationship.
She admitted, “It wasn’t something you notice right away. Some little things I did, but like I said — to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever been loved so genuinely by anyone in my life. I loved the way this man loves me. I do. But as I said, there were so many differences for the long term and I kept feeling like if I don’t do it now, it’s gonna be even harder.”
Touching on her experience having a public relationship, Susan confessed, “Nobody sees the real conversations or the doubts that you have privately.”
We are sending her so much love and thinking of her during this time. Listen to Susan and Kathy’s full conversation below.
