Raven Gates Opens Up About Struggling with Anxiety and Responds to Criticisms of Her New Home
Keeping it real.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Raven Gates Gottschalk meet and fall in love with Adam Gottschalk on Season 4 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since then, Raven and Adam have tied the knot and welcomed two kids: their son Gates in January 2022 and their second son, Max, in July 2023.
The couple loves to keep people updated with their lives on social media, often posting about their family, marriage, and fun trips together.
And last year, the two revealed that they are currently building their dream home together in Frisco, Texas.
Raven and Adam have been documenting the process online. And recently, Raven received criticism over the size of their new home with someone commenting that it “could be a little more modest.”
The Bachelor Nation star responded to the comment on her Instagram Story, writing, “If it’s not something you would choose that’s okay! But I’m not gonna lie, comments like this take me by surprise sometimes. It sounds very judgey. And I hate coming off defensive but I almost feel like I need to be?”
Raven continued, sharing, “I want every person to live how they want, build the house they want, and enjoy whatever decisions they make. I’m really excited for our home & everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but if building our home has come off as we’re flaunting or better than… I hope you know that’s not my heart.”
She also added, “This was a dream home build Adam and I have always wanted to do & we’ve thought about all the bells and whistles we would have and we’re trying to execute our dream vision. It’s been really fun and exciting.”
Raven also opened up about struggling with anxiety and how she deals with “racing thoughts.”
“I found that the busier I am in real life, the quieter those anxiety/OCD thoughts are. I think my mind gets redirected into other things that truly are important rather than worrying about things that don’t matter,” she said. “I’ve done enough therapy to recognize which thoughts are beneficial to me and which thoughts are not. I was telling Adam yesterday that I was having a bad day with racing thoughts just to give him a heads up, and it ended up being fine.”
Raven went on, “I think that the more I know my body, keep my mind focused on things that are important or things that I find joy in, the voices and anxiety thoughts quiet down.”
We always love hearing from Raven and appreciate her honesty. We’re wishing her and Adam all the best.
