Bachelor Nation fans got to know Onyeka Ehie on Season 23 of “The Bachelor” and Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”

After her time on the show, Onyeka found love with Martin Fredsgaard Andersen from Denmark and the two announced their engagement in April 2024. 

The two ended up getting married, but last year, Onyeka revealed online that she has separated from him after finding out that he’s allegedly a professional con artist.

Now, one year later, the Bachelor Nation star is reflecting on the moment she discovered her then husband was an “international criminal con artist.”  

In a video posted online, she said, “Exactly one year ago, I found out that I was married to an international criminal con artist. Let’s talk about it.” 

Onyeka went on and expressed that she still remembers the day “so clearly.” 

She shared, “I remember looking at what was in front of me and then realizing that the person that I was building a life with, that I loved, that I trusted, was not the person that I thought he was. And there’s really no way to prepare yourself for that. And with every piece of information, I had to question what was real. My relationship, the future we were planning, the beautiful memories. And then one moment, I realized I didn’t need an explanation anymore because I had uncovered an entire life that I knew nothing about.”

Reflecting on the past year, Onyeka admitted that there were times she “did not know how [she] was going to get through it.” Then, she started questioning what she was going to do next.

“That’s when I found a strength in me that I didn’t know I had,” she stated. “I started putting together the pieces of the puzzle, I started trusting myself again, I started telling the truth about what happened to me, and eventually I told all of you. A year ago I could not have imagined talking about this publicly.”

Onyeka continued, “I definitely couldn’t have imagined the woman that I would have become on the other side of it. So no, today is not a day that I celebrate. I do not celebrate what happened to me. I do not celebrate the lies and the betrayal and everything it took to get me here. But I am acknowledging this day because exactly one year later, I’m still here. I’m still standing. And when I look at how far I’ve come from the woman that learned the truth exactly one year ago today, I’m pretty da*n proud.”
