Chock Chapple Confirms He Has Prostate Cancer and Shares Follow-Up: ‘Be Proactive!’

Bachelor Nation saw Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple fall in love and get engaged on the very first season of “The Golden Bachelorette.”
Since their time on the show, the two have been spending time together in their respective hometowns and traveling the world.
The couple loves to keep fans updated with their lives online. And last week, Chock revealed in a video on social media that he got his prostate removed in a recent cancer scare.
Now, the “Golden Bachelorette” star has confirmed in another post online that he does have prostate cancer and shared a follow-up.
In the post, he stated, “I wanted to follow up [from] last week with my post with Joan on me announcing that I have prostate cancer. [I] had the surgery a couple of weeks ago. I got two things that I want to talk about.”
Chock went on to explain that on his post with Joan, he received a lot of comments and questions from people wondering how they can go get tested and checked.
He invited his doctor to join him in the video and help explain what processes and measures people should take to get checked.
Chock said, “Prostate, it’s one of the most populous cancers, especially for men over 60 years old. So, again, what the people are looking for is what processes should they do as they age?”
Chock’s doctor explained, “One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. One in 44 will die from it, so it’s not nothing. This is one of the more important things, but men get scared away from prostate testing a lot because they think it has to be a physical exam. And really we just start with the bloodwork the majority of the time and then advance from there.”
He also recommended going to see a physician to better understand results, but in some states, people can get the test without a physician involved.
