Susie Evans Opens Up About Battling Anxiety During Emotional Egg-Freezing Journey
Keeping it real.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Susie Evans on Season 26 of “The Bachelor” and again on Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Susie has been living in L.A. and keeping fans updated on her life online.
Earlier this year, she took to Instagram to share a deeply personal journey with her hundreds of thousands of followers: her decision to freeze her eggs.
She shared, “While I’m still figuring out the marriage and kids chapter, I look at the life I’ve built and the blessing of having the option to freeze my eggs, and I feel incredibly grateful.”
Susie documented her hormone injection process on social media as she prepared her body for the egg retrieval. And in May, she went through the procedure.
Now, months afterward, the Bachelor Nation star has shared a vlog about her experience and opened up about battling anxiety during the process.
“When I started my injections, I knew I was going to vlog the process, but I was coming off of a really tough week,” Susie shared. Explaining more, she revealed that she started the process while her sister was also going through cancer treatments.
“I was super emotional. My little sister was diagnosed with cancer last year, and earlier that week, she FaceTimed me [when] she had shaved her head from chemo,” she reflected.
Susie went on and explained that she began feeling guilty for not being near family at the time.
“I was battling with this anxiety of, ‘Am I a good enough sister? Am I a good enough daughter?’ [I was] feeling guilt for living so far away,” she admitted. “All of these overwhelming thoughts and feelings [were] creeping into my head. ‘What am I doing with my life? Should I be in L.A.? Am I doing the right thing? Am I ever going to find somebody here?’ I was just dealing with so much stuff.”
However, through the emotional journey, Susie noted that she's grateful she decided to embark on her egg-freezing journey. She described it as “the ultimate gift to myself,” and shared it was a “process of self-love.” Susie added she now feels “totally empowered” after overcoming a lot of fears.
We love how open Susie has been about her egg-freezing journey, and we are sending her our love. We know sharing her experience will help others going through a similar process.
