Looking back.

Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor,” and again on Seasons 1 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” 

Sarah ended up finding her forever person off-screen when she got engaged to filmmaker and photographer Dylan Brown in May 2021.

After years of IVF treatments and losing their son Oliver, Sarah and Dylan had put wedding planning on the back burner to try to start a family. But in 2023, she took to social media to share that they officially tied the knot in an intimate surprise elopement ceremony at the Grand Canyon.

Since then, the two have bought a home together and welcomed two beautiful twin girls, Evy and Coco, in 2024.

Now, the Bachelor Nation star has taken to social media to reflect on the journey that led to her and Dylan’s elopement three years ago. 

In a new post online, Sarah shared, “Three years ago we made the pivot that changed our lives. We had been engaged for 2 years, but were in the throes of fertility struggles, so a wedding wasn’t our priority.”

“We finally became pregnant for the first and only time, but experienced a devastating loss at 25 [weeks]. Not exactly the trajectory newly engaged couples imagine,” she expressed. “Paralyzed with grief and apathy, we were surprised with the news one day that we had ‘won’ a lottery permit to raft The Grand Canyon — a once in a lifetime permit opportunity.”

Sarah recalled they had 30 days to assemble a group of friends and prepare for a 16-day, self-supported trip “down 250 miles of remote, wilderness, river.” She shared that as they were preparing, she realized they “needed something to celebrate.” 

She and Dylan stocked up on film, bought rings and silk flowers, and told their friends to pack Hawaiian shirts. Sarah also bought a dress that would fit in her duffel bag. 

“On day 4 of our trip, at river mile 75, we decided it was the perfect place to change our course,” she reflected. “That winter, we transferred the remaining 2 embryos that became our amazing twin daughters.”

Sarah ended her post with a note of encouragement for those who may be going through a difficult time. 

She said, “Just remember, if you’re in the throes of something hard, a pivot is a change in your strategy, not a change in your vision…Happy three years official, babe! What a wild ride it’s been ❤️”
