Bachelor Nation Stylist Cary Fetman Dishes on the Reality of Television Styling: ‘Its Own Adventure’
Bachelor Nation fashion.
If you’ve been keeping up with “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” over the years, you’ve probably seen all the stunning looks rocked by our leads week after week each season.
And all these outfits are thanks to Bachelor Nation wardrobe stylist and costumer Cary Fetman.
Cary has been styling for the Bachelor Nation franchise since the very beginning. And recently, he’s been taking to social media to reflect on his experience.
This week, Cary posted some more behind-the-scenes photos online and dished on the reality of television styling.
In a new post, he shared, “The glamorous life of television styling… or at least the part you’re supposed to see. 😂Behind every beautiful gown, rose ceremony and perfectly tailored suit are the moments nobody ever sees.”
Within the carousel of photos, Cary included one picture of former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe lying in a casket.
“Sometimes you’re lying in a coffin,” he wrote. “Sometimes I’m pinning, taping and making an outfit work with whatever we have. Sometimes you’re in curlers, laughing through fittings, eating shaved ice in a baby blue dress, or stretched across a mountain of luggage because traveling with wardrobe is its own adventure.”
The stylist continued and spilled behind-the-scenes information about how he has to style for every possible condition.
“When a gown is fitted perfectly, standing beautifully isn’t enough. You also have to make sure she can actually sit down and stand back up without ripping it,” he revealed. “Comfort? Not necessarily. Survival? Absolutely. Then there’s the glamour of freezing locations: long underwear hidden underneath a gown until the very last possible second… and somehow, minutes later, the finished picture looks effortless.”
Cary ended his post, reflecting on his favorite part of styling for the franchise.
He shared, “That’s the part of Bachelor Nation I loved most — the beautiful pictures were wonderful, but the chaos behind them was usually much more fun.”
We love all these stories and behind-the-scenes photos. We're so grateful for Cary’s amazing expertise, and we can’t wait to see what he shares next!
