Susie Evans Receives ‘Beautiful’ Surprise After Getting Scammed by Fake NYC Hotel
A turn of events.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Susie Evans on Season 26 of “The Bachelor” and again on Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the shows, Susie has been living in L.A. and keeping fans updated with her life online.
Recently, she traveled to New York City for a trip and while there, she accidentally got scammed by a fake hotel.
The Bachelor nation star documented her experience on social media and shared, “I got scammed. About a month ago I was booking a hotel for [my friend] and I because we were coming to New York for work. This morning I get a text saying, ‘Hey we need you to Zelle us your deposit for like $600.’”
Susie noted that it felt suspicious so she decided to wait until they arrived, but when they got to the address, the hotel didn’t exist. “We go across town, we get out exactly where we’re supposed to be, we cannot find this hotel anywhere,” she recalled.
While looking, Susie connected with a doorman named Lenny who told her that they got scammed and it’s happened to a few other people as well. Lenny works at another hotel and tried to help them, but the hotel was fully booked.
He directed them toward another hotel down the street. When they arrived, the new hotel originally quoted Susie and her friend $1,400 for one night. However, after explaining what happened, they wanted to help and gave them a “major discount.”
“It is not ideal to get scammed, but this is kind of the best-case scenario for where we could end up tonight,” Susie stated in a video. “I mean look at this place, it’s so beautiful! I don’t know what to say. I guess I’m gonna go see if I can get my money back from the scam. But in the meantime, I’m going to be enjoying my time here.”
Reflecting on the unexpected surprise, Susie teased, “I was trying to be a helpful friend and book our rooms, but I got scammed instead. Buttttt I do believe in lucky girl syndrome and we somehow ended up at what may be the most gorgeous hotel!”
So wild!
What a crazy adventure. We’re so glad it worked out in the end and we hope Susie and her friend had a great time in New York!
