Serena Pitt Lists Top 5 Recovery Items After Joe Amabile’s Brain Surgery: ‘Hope This Helps’
Recovery essentials.
Bachelor Nation saw fan-favorite couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt fall in love and get engaged on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” The couple tied the knot in 2023.
Over the summer, Joe shared the news that they discovered an “early stage brain tumor” and he needed brain surgery.
The Bachelor Nation star revealed the doctors were able to successfully remove the entire tumor during the surgery, and he has since been diagnosed with a very low-grade astrocytoma.
Joe stated that he will be on treatment for life and both he and Serena have been keeping followers updated on his recovery journey online.
Now, Serena has taken to social media to share the top five items they’ve used to help with Joe’s recovery. In a new video, she said, “I thought it might be helpful if I shared the top five items that Joe used when he came home from the hospital to recover after his brain surgery.”
Serena also noted that “essential post-surgery items like gauze,” will be given by the hospital, but she wanted to share other items that helped make his recovery more comfortable.
The Bachelor Nation star first started with their wedge pillow, calling it “the MVP.” She said, “He still uses this. It was truly one of the best things that we bought for him… It allowed him to lay down for hours without getting super uncomfortable and it kept his head elevated, which was really important in the beginning.”
Serena then went on to list other useful items such as sensitive skin shampoo, gentle cleansing wipes to wash his face the first few days, and a sleep mask “for rest, relaxation, recovery during the day when he felt overstimulated and he needed some darkness.”
She then ended the list stating that although they “typically use metal or glass straws that can be washed and reused,” plastic straws became helpful during this time. Serena then expressed in her caption, “I felt so overwhelmed thinking about what we may need after Joe’s surgery to keep him comfortable during recovery, I hope this helps if you’re going through something similar 🤍”
We always love hearing from Joe and Serena, and we’re so glad Joe’s recovery has been going well. We’re wishing them both all the best and we’re sending our love!
