The Romantic (and Stressful) Story Behind Jordan Rodgers' Second Proposal to JoJo Fletcher
Not everything is always as simple as it seems. Just ask Jordan Rodgers.
Jordan proposed to his fiancée JoJo Fletcher a second time on August 24 in a surprise twist while they were out touring wedding venues in California. The couple announced the happy news on social media the next day and said they would share the story of the romantic gesture at a later date.
That day has finally come.
The former NFL player said in his initial Instagram announcement that his plan for the big proposal “almost fell apart multiple times.” On Thursday evening, Jordan shared the nitty-gritty details about the obstacles (and many flights) it took to get his picture-perfect proposal.

According to Jordan’s post, it seemed as though Murphy’s Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong) was trying to shoulder its way into his path. Jordan was not going to allow any of that to get in his way, and he even dubbed the whole day “PERFECTLY IMPERFECT.” Jordan wrote in his caption that it was all a “near disaster” because his 5-carat custom ring he designed “had to be rushed and barely arrived in time.”
For secrecy’s sake, Jordan had the jeweler ship the ring to a friend in Nashville. He then flew from work in Charlotte to Nashville, telling JoJo he was working late. Jordan explained, “My flight was delayed 4hrs, I took off at 2:30am all the while praying JoJo didn’t FaceTime or call me because I wouldn’t be able to answer in an airport or on the plane & that would seem SUPER shady.”
This flight delay caused a massive time crunch. Jordan said he arrived in Nashville at 3:45 a.m., picked up the ring, then hopped back on a 6 a.m. flight to Los Angeles to meet up with JoJo.
The stress didn’t end when he arrived in Los Angeles, either. Jordan had already chosen a venue to propose, but “the lady I had coordinated with that was in on the secret bailed last minute so some random lady that had no idea I was proposing walked us through the venue and miraculously caught on to what was happening and filmed it from afar on her iPhone.”

In August, Jordan said that he wanted to propose a second time off-camera. He romantically wrote on Instagram at the time, “Joelle is the love of my life, she is my rock, she is the funniest, strongest, and sweetest person I have ever known. The first time around I fell in love with a lot of what you all love about JoJo. But this time around I got on one knee and vowed to honor and protect her heart, which is the greatest part of her.”
JoJo and Jordan met and got engaged on Season 12 of “The Bachelorette” in 2016 and are (clearly) just as strong as ever.
According to Us Weekly, Jordan and JoJo will tie the knot in June or July 2020.
