Why Krystal Nielson Is 'Proud' She Kept Her Last Name
Newlywed life aside, Krystal Nielson has no plans to change her last name any time soon.
Krystal married Chris Randone on June 16 at the Vidanta resort in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, which also happened to be the site of their first date and their first “I love you’s.” Krystal’s marriage represents a new chapter in her life, but she’s also ensuring that the prologue to that story doesn’t get left behind.
The 32-year-old co-hosted an episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour” with Rachel Lindsay, and they chatted with fellow “Paradise” cast members Jade Roper and Carly Waddell about marriage and motherhood. Jade, Carly, Rachel and Krystal all kept their maiden names and discussed why they made the decision to do so.
Jade explained that she didn’t change her name because she felt like it “gives away a part of my identity.”

Krystal said she feels “the same way” and wholeheartedly agreed with Jade’s comment. “When I was getting married, everyone was asking me, and I was getting a lot of shame on Instagram about it,” the fitness coach said. “People were like, ‘Why aren’t you going to change your name? Do you not see the relationship working out?’”
She became very “defensive” about it, but after some introspection, learned why she felt that way. She shared, “It took me a really long time to really love and appreciate who I am today — Krystal Nielson, my last name — and taking ownership of that and everything that came with it. I’m really proud to be her. I didn’t want to be someone else. I wanted to be me.”
Rachel added to that, “The happy medium is changing it on Instagram.”
Krystal might not have taken the last name Randone, but her canine kids did. She said she renamed her dogs(her “little family”) Wayne and Chucky Nielson-Randone.
