Catherine Giudici Lowe’s 'Heart-Wrenching' Challenge After Giving Birth to Mia
Catherine Giudici Lowe is now the proud mother of a daughter, but she’s still adjusting to balancing two young kids with an infant.
Catherine opened up to Us Weekly about motherhood and “recovering physically from a major surgery” after undergoing a cesarean section on December 23.
She told the publication, “the biggest challenge for me is it’s just somewhat heart-wrenching to not be able to pick up my sons if they cry.” However, Catherine believes “that’s going to be passing.”
She described her sons Samuel, 3, and Isaiah, 20 months, as “very big cuddlers,” but she “can’t physically pick them up or go upstairs too often.”

Catherine and Sean post plenty of photos of their three kids snuggling with each other or nestled up to them. In one especially adorable picture of Samuel and Isaiah, Catherine wrote, “Methinks they’re acting extra cute to take the attention away from Mia. SYKE they’re always this cute.”
The big brothers love holding their newborn sister, too. Sean posted a picture of Samuel holding Mia closely and he captioned it, “Sometimes if you really love someone, you should let them go. Let her breathe man.”
Catherine shared with Us Weekly, “It’s been really nice to see my boys love on their little sister.”
She joked in an Instagram post on January 11, “These boys won’t let her out of their sight. In 16 years when she starts trying to date, those suitors are in for big trouble.”
Although Catherine is the mom of three, she told the magazine that taking care of a newborn feels “somewhat routine.” She said, “I’ve been perpetually pregnant or breastfeeding for the past four years of my life. Knowing what to expect in that newborn phase has been nice because you’re not worried in the middle of the night if they’re alive, you’re not stressing about the fact that you don’t sleep. You just anticipate what is going to happen, and it makes it a lot easier.”

In October, two months before welcoming Mia, Catherine opened up about parenting worries and how her concerns took a 180-degree turn. She wrote on Instagram, “My biggest fear before having Samuel was that I wouldn’t be naturally maternal. Not the pregnancy pains or the delivery unknowns or the sleep deprivation everyone talked about. That I wouldn’t be the mother he needed because I didn’t think I had the motherly instincts.”
She continued, “Now, I’m 7 months pregnant with my third child and I cannot wait to share all the love I know I have to offer him/her. It comes on strong, people and I know it will never leave. My heart has grown to annoyingly adore each one of my sweet babies.”
