Experience Singapore Like Colton Underwood on 'The Bachelor'
Pack your bags, because it’s time to hop on a flight to a bustling hub of commerce, cuisine, culture, and couture: Singapore!
Colton Underwood traveled here on Season 23 of “The Bachelor” — a first for the show — and dove headfirst into all types of adventures. The Southeast Asian country combines 21st-century technology with homages to its centuries-old past, which remains evident in everything from Singapore’s food to its shopping experiences.
When you and your significant other travel to Singapore, follow in Colton’s footsteps and have a “Bachelor” experience of your own!
Arrival
You’ll want to commence this journey of a lifetime as soon as you land in Singapore. Colton and the ladies stayed at the Fairmont Singapore in the heart of downtown. With its easy access to all sorts of shopping, museums, and transportation, it’s a great location with everything the city offers right at your fingertips.
No site combines old with the new quite like Chijmes, and it’s the perfect place to start your trip. Colton greeted the ladies at this former Catholic convent, which now serves as a center for shopping, dining, the arts, and everything you could need for a romantic date.
One-on-one: A Bachelor who bungees
If you want to combine romance with adrenaline, may we suggest you take a page from Colton’s book and head to the AJ Hackett Bridge on Sentosa Island for a day of high risk, high reward! Take the plunge and strengthen your romantic connection with a couples bungee jump off the bridge, which stands at 47 meters (154 feet) from the ground. Make that leap of faith side-by-side and enjoy the trust exercise you never knew your relationship needed.
If you’re still not afraid of heights after the bungee jump, you can end the evening on an even more romantic note by taking a ride on the Singapore Flyer observation wheel. After a day like this, love can conquer any fear.
Group date: Munching in the market
It’s absolutely imperative to try street food during your stay in Singapore! After all, there are not one but two food stalls that earned highly coveted Michelin stars. As most foodies know, those accolades are difficult for any high-end restaurant to earn, let alone a food stall. However, Singapore did it.
Colton went on a group date to the famous Chinatown Food Market, which contains more than 250 food stalls. For an unforgettable day of flavor and fun, follow Colton’s lead and try everything the market has to offer. There are copious unique local delicacies to choose from — fried chicken feet, durian, mooncakes, fish head curry, and pig intestines, and more.
If you’re with a large group, don’t be afraid to divide and conquer and see what types of dishes you can bring back to a table to enjoy family-style. After all, sharing is caring — even on a group date!
One-on-one date: Dress to impress
If you and your date have a penchant for shopping, then Singapore is the place for you! Perhaps you fell in love with the jaw-dropping fashion in the movie “Crazy Rich Asians” and you want to emulate that.
Go all out like Colton and his date and walk around the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and ION Orchard Mall. Visit high-end locales such as Pois Boutique for elevated Singapore couture, and Freda’D, where you can create your own perfumes. Not only will you have fun exploring but you’ll also definitely leave dressed to impress with all your new fashion finds.
Once you shop till you drop, we suggest ending the day in a romantic yet laid-back atmosphere by sitting in the Gardens by the Bay park. Cheers to each other and this special day in your relationship.
Rose ceremony
Before your trip comes to an end, you and your group (or just your date) can stop and smell the flowers at the Chinese Gardens. It’s the perfect place to hand out a rose or two!
