Demi Burnett Turns 25: A Look Back at Her Big Year
Demi Burnett is more than ready to thrive at 25!
The “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 6 alumna turns 25 on Friday, February 21, and she rang in her big week with several celebrations and outings. On Wednesday, for instance, she went bowling (though she wanted to go mini golfing), and on Thursday, she ventured to Six Flags for a day of fun at the amusement park.
It’s fair to say 24 was quite the transformative year for the Texas native. For starters, she appeared on Colton Underwood’s season of “The Bachelor” (this aired when she turned 24) and became notorious for her mix of unfiltered opinions and vulnerable moments.
Thanks to her fan-favorite moments on “The Bachelor” and her undercover appearances on Hannah Brown’s season of “The Bachelorette,” Demi headed to Mexico for a history-making season of “Paradise.”
Before leaving, she revealed to Hannah Brown that she was dating a woman in Los Angeles — Kristian Haggerty — but she still wanted to see what "Paradise" had to offer. While in Mexico, she and Derek Peth began a relationship, but she broke up with him because of her feelings for Kristian.
“A lot of people seem to think Derek and I are one of the strongest couples here in Paradise, if not the strongest. I have feelings for Derek, but really, in actuality, I’m really conflicted and I don’t even think Derek knows that,” Demi said at one point. “There’s so many other feelings in the back of my mind. I’ve always struggled to talk about who I’m attracted to, but I’ve been dating a woman back in L.A.”
Kristian surprised Demi in “Paradise” and the two continued to grow their relationship. Demi proposed to Kristian on the season finale, and Kristian returned the gesture on the “Paradise” reunion. They announced their separation on October 31.
