Chris Harrison: Victoria, Hannah Ann & Madison Staying Together 'Had to Happen'
Chris Harrison is shedding some light on that awkward living situation Hannah Ann, Victoria F. and Madison dealt with during Fantasy Suites on Peter Weber's season of "The Bachelor."
Rather than getting separate accommodations, the final three women shared a hotel suite in Gold Coast, Australia, which led to some uncomfortable moments. Chris spoke with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on a new episode of "Bachelor Happy Hour" about production's decision to put them all in the same suite.
Becca expressed she "would’ve hated to have been the girls this week" because of that. "To know that the guy you care about is spending time with other women and to see them come home in the morning and to have to talk about it is brutal," she said.
Chris, meanwhile, explained that it all boiled down to the fact that it would potentially force Peter to make a decision. Even the host made fun of Peter’s indecisiveness on the show, calling him "the king of kicking the can down the road."
He told Rachel and Becca, "There are things we do as producers that will force you into this uncomfortable zone and force you into making a decision. Sometimes we do it on your behalf, sometimes we do it for the guys or the girls. This situation was pretty extraordinary."
Chris continued, "Peter kicked the can down the road, but so had Madison. This was to force a situation that had to happen, and it had to happen this week."
In terms of the "situation that had to happen," Chris said it related to "double standards and the things Peter had to deal with." He shared, "We needed the women’s perspective on this. We needed Madison to face Victoria and Hannah Ann and have them express their emotions on this. Otherwise, it’s just this guy and his perspective, and I don’t know if that’s the greatest thing right now."
Rachel also pointed out that relationships with the other women are just as important as the relationship with the Bachelor himself. Chris agreed, noting, "I don’t see a lot of BFFs coming out of this season. Maybe this has to do with their age or their emotional intelligence, I don’t know. I don’t see a lot of that sisterhood that I’ve seen in seasons past."
