Experience Tulum, Mexico, Like 'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 1
Bachelor in Paradise's inception occurred not in Sayulita, Mexico, like future seasons, but in Tulum.
Season 1 of the popular spin-off show kicked off in Quintana Roo's seaside city in the Yucátan Peninsula, known for its Mayan ruins and picturesque ocean views. Although the show moved to the western part of the country for its next seasons, there's no reason why you shouldn't pay homage to the inaugural season in Tulum.
Here's how you can experience Tulum, Mexico, just like your favorite "Bachelor in Paradise" Season 1 attendees. It's time to grab your date and your flip-flops and hit the beach!
Where to stay
"Bachelor in Paradise" lives up to its name, with many thanks to the luxury hotel accommodations. Beachgoers began their search for love at Papaya Playa Project, a hotel that combines an appreciation for nature with ocean views. The hotel makes you feel as if you've escaped into a rainforest on the beach as you dine on fresh seafood infused with Mexican and Mayan influences.
From the moment you walk in, you'll want to steal time in this hotel for more than just a second!
Nothing can ruin our love
Tourists from around the world don't visit Tulum solely for the turquoise water and white sand beaches. The city is famous for its ruins, which date back to 564 AD. The city's former protective wall is a main attraction in the area, and the city's name even translates to "wall" in the Mayan language.
Although you and your date will spend the day wandering around the centuries-old ruins, you two will be putting down walls in your relationship rather than putting them up. Be sure to watch out for fire ants!
While you're out, you and your date can explore downtown Tulum and explore what else the city has to offer. You two are sure to have a rosy experience.
Trotting in Tulum
When on the beach, why not horseback ride? Like many a "Bachelor in Paradise" date, you can head to Playa del Carmen for a day trotting on the beach alongside your love. You two can bond while looking out at the perfect view and discuss your future together that will expand as wide as the ocean.
Afterwards, you and your love can picnic together on the beach and pop open a bottle of cerveza as you watch the sunset in the distance. Don't be afraid to find your own coconut and try to get the water out!
Take a dive into forever
Don't resist the temptation to dive right into Tulum's immaculate waters! If you and your date want to opt for an adrenaline rush, try cliff diving. Hold their hand and take a risk on that leap of faith.
One small jump for you, one giant leap for your relationship!
Explore at Xcaret
When the need for adventure calls, you and your date can hop in the car and drive about an hour north of Tulum to Xcaret, a water-centric amusement park. You can peruse the main ground and also explore underground rivers as well as other attractions. Whether you two are on solid ground or relaxing on the water, your relationship will surely float above the rest.
Later, dry off from the water park and heat up the date with a romantic dinner. Plus, you two can put the "kiss" in "sun-kissed" and enjoy a smooch as you watch the sunset.
Get knotty
Sitting on the beach during vacation is relaxing enough, but you can go the extra mile and enjoy a spa day with your date. After eliminating all tension and knots in your couples' massage, you two can toast to a perfect day over a candlelit dinner.
Play in la playa
You likely traveled to Tulum for its beaches, so take advantage of it as much as you can! Try something new like a surfing lesson on the perfect water or scuba diving and looking at the marine life around you. No matter what, you'll want to spend ample time in the sea and soak it all in.
You’ll surely want to add Tulum to your travel bucket list because it feels like paradise in every sense of the word.
