Peter Weber's Season Ends with an Engagement, a Breakup, and New Relationship
Peter Weber's season of "The Bachelor" has come to a close, and what a whirlwind that was!
Monday night's episode ended as Peter left Hannah Ann's room and told her he'd see her the next day. Tuesday's episode continued from there, which left Peter pondering about his future.
He felt reassured about his feelings for Hannah Ann, calling his sentiments towards her "true love." He expressed in a voice-over, "She gave me so much confidence that this love I’ve always wanted truly does exist. It feels right and real with Hannah Ann."
Hannah Ann, however, dealt with some trepidation before heading to the proposal because she wanted to know if Peter felt the same way towards her as she did for him. Chris Harrison informed Peter she might not come, but he later learned she changed her mind and got Peter ready for the proposal.
Peter began his proposal, "I remember that very first night and when I had to give out that First Impression Rose, it was never a question of who I was going to give it to. I cherished every single moment I’ve been able to spend with you. I know I told you I was falling for you, and I told you that my heart was being torn in two different directions, and now I have to follow my heart."
He revealed Madison left, adding, "Hannah Ann, your beautiful spirit is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. You are thoughtful, you are caring, you are selfless, you are passionate and above all else, you are one of a kind, and my heart chooses you forever. I love you, Hannah Ann. The love that you’ve shown me is all that I’ve ever wanted."
She immediately accepted his proposal. When Peter informed his family a week later, his Barbara Weber burst into happy tears.
The tides changed, however, during a couples weekend in Los Angeles a few weeks later. Hannah Ann sensed something was off with their relationship, and asked him where his head and heart were at. Peter admitted, "I’ve been honest with you about everything. I have no doubt that I’ve fallen in love with you and I love you. There’s no doubt about that. For so many reasons, I’m just struggling. It just kills me to put you through this and see you give everything and have me be where I’m at. I hate that."
She replied, "For me, when I said yes to you, I said yes to a partnership. I said yes to us being teammates and working through things together. The love I have to give will endure the worst, but if you can’t give me the love in return, that’s not a relationship. I told you I would stay by your side even if it killed me, and it has to be 50-50."
Hannah Ann asserted later, "All I’ve ever asked for is for someone to give me their whole heart like I’m giving to them. You took away from me my first engagement."
After more back and forth, Hannah Ann got up and then handed her pear-shaped ring back to Peter. "Torn and conflicted Peter, and I’ve been there by your side. You took the most precious moment away from me," she told a teary-eyed Peter. "I can’t even look at you anymore. I just need someone that’s going to be true to their words, not be torn and conflicted 90% of the time. It’s affected a lot of people. I don’t need anything more from you. You’ve done enough damage. I’m done."
The tension continued when Hannah Ann joined Peter onstage and didn't hold back when it came to expressing her disappointment. She said, "Words are powerful, Peter. Either you don’t mean what you say, or you don’t understand the weight of your words and how they impact people. So, which one is it?"
She said on a final note, "My advice to you is, if you want to be with a woman, you need to be a real man."
Despite the end of his engagement to Hannah Ann, there was still a semblance of hope for Peter and Madison. They reunited after Chris Harrison informed her of Peter and Hannah Ann's breakup, and both Peter and Madison revealed their feelings for each other had not changed at all.
When the longtime host asked the two of them where they stood, Peter responded, "I know how we both feel about each other, and taking this one step at a time is the smartest way to do this. The way I feel for [Madison], that’s never changed and I’ve never lost that."
Tensions flared a few moments later when Chris asked Barbara how she felt about Peter and Madison's potential new relationship. She did not hide her disappointment that Peter and Hannah Ann's engagement ended and explained, "I went for Hannah Ann because she embraced me with love and was so organic and loving towards me. I just loved her so much. The next day we met Madison, it started rocky because we waited three hours to meet her because she didn’t want to come in. We just came across the world to see her, and she didn't come in."
Madison replied to Barbara's remarks, "This isn’t just Peter’s journey. When you sign up for this show, you’re looking for love. This wasn’t just Peter looking for a wife. As a mother you’re going to be thinking about Peter, but this is my journey too. This isn’t just Peter choosing me, this is me choosing Peter."
When Chris asked Barbara how she sees this relationship working, she said, "He’s going to have to fail to succeed. That’s it. All his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him, knows that it’s not going to work. We’ve been trying to help him."
Will Peter and Madison's love last?
